Re: swelling

Everyone is different. I have had 8 abdominal surgeries and sometimes I hardly had any swelling. My surgery on Jan of this year left me bloated for months. I just had surgery again last week and am hardly bloated at all. Weird?? Do you have a belly wrap or support. That helps a lot. Drink water, walk, make sure you are having regular BM's, try probiotics. These are things I do.
Good luck! Hope you are feeling better otherwise!

Re: swelling

I'm at 17 days post-op and still have significant swelling. Underpants don't even fit yet. My skin around the swelly-belly feels like a severe bruise, even though I can't see any bruising. It's so painful to the touch. Sometimes it even feels like it's burning....but I've asked hubby to touch it and he says it does not feel hot.

I don't know how much longer I can stand it. I have a wrap, which helps a bit, but of course touching my skin is difficult to endure.

Re: swelling

I am 8 weeks post op and the swelly belly comes and goes. It's always worse at the end of the day. Sometimes my belly is very tender. It still bothers me to have the seatbelt against it. It doesn't hurt inside, more the surface and just under the skin. Very tender. I still don't feel jeans are comfortable. The pressure at the waist seems to cause gas and swelling. It is normal to be tender for a while.
