I'm Finally Home
Hi to All!
First I would like to thank everyone for the support before I had my surgery last Thursday. I was so nervous that I almost cancelled the morning of surgery but my family was adamant. I went in for a vaginal hysterectomy but woke up with an adominal and a colostomy. When my doctor got in, she had eveything done vaginally but for so reason my uterus had attached it self to my rectum. So when my doctor detached it, she cut the rectum. So I have a temporary colostomy for about 6 weeks then I will have surgery to repair it. I was so thankfully that my doctor insist that they look and look and look at the bowel to find the problem or it could have be different. I just got home a few hours ago and it feels good to be here. Moving slow but both my gn doc and general surgeon doc say that is expected. I really want to thank everyone here because I don't think I could have done it without the support I have received. I haven't been able to read any posts yet but did so titles saying how nervous everyone is. I just want you to know that it is normal. I was beyond terrified when we walked in. I also have panic disorder so you can imagine what a case I was. My doc, nurse and especially my anesthesiaologist was wonderful!!! As a matter of fact my anesthesiolgist even prayed with me and mly family before I went in. ANd then when they had to break the news to me about the complications, he was there holding my hand. I really think that most docs are sensitive to this. So please don't be frightened. I know that it is easier said than done. If you need to talk, just write to me. I definetly understand. THANKS AGAIN FOR ALL THE SUPPORT!

I'm Finally Home
Welcome home Miki!!
I'm so glad that you are home resting and that the worst is behind you now. My dad had a temporary colostomy and when it was reversed, everything was as it had been before...don't worry too much about that part.
It sounds like you had a super medical team to help you and a great support system in your family. With such a good attitude and strong support, your recovery will go great.
Remember all your good princess training, and we'll all be here to cheer you on in your progress. Thanks for sharing your experience with the LIWs here....it always helps so much to hear that the waiting is really the worst part. See you on the Post-Op board!!!

Welcome home!
Miki, I was so glad to hear from you! I sent you an email, knowing that you might not get it for a while, but I really wondered how you were.
I'm glad everything went well, and it's over. Now you can relax - I SAID RELAX - THAT'S AN ORDER!
Drink lots, walk when you're up to it, and rest rest rest.
Let us know how you are when you're up to it later.
