Tummy pain when I get up

First I want to say how happy I am to have found this site it is soooo helpful. Thank you all for your support. I had a SAH - one ovary removed - on June 7, 2012. According to my Dr. it went well and I am not in too much pain, all things considered. However I find that although I am able to move around, walk etc without much discomfort, I find my abdomen is rather painful after getting up from sitting or sleeping and I have to walk hunched over and hold my tummy for a while. Is this normal? Could anyone explain why the pain is so intense upon getting up? Also is it okay to lie on my tummy so soon? I sleep better on my tummy and sleeping on my side is painful. It feel as though when I lie on my side something moves or something and it is painful. Thanks a bunch.

Re: Tummy pain when I get up

I am not sure about sleeping on your stomach but i have been sleeping confoftably on my side with a pillow wedged under my stomach and a pillow between my knees to keep my hips from pulling.
As far as hunched over it is normal and as days go on it eases up. When sitting or laying try to be as straight as you can i notice when i hunch in the char for a long period of time, when I get up i do get sore on occasion.

Re: Tummy pain when I get up

I walked hunched too! Try to be concious of posture, as my muscles kept contracting because they were so tight. As for sleeping on tummy, I'd think that if it's comfortable, go for it unless you are very very heavy, but then it'wouldn't be comfortable, right? Recalling how I felt a few days post op, I doubt that I woulda have been comfortable on my tummy...

Re: Tummy pain when I get up

I have the same problem, when I wake up in the morning I have stomach discomfort but once I start walking around I am able to stand up straight and the pain subsides. I do have a problem with sleeping on my back and side and I am too afraid to sleep on my stomach. I have to sleep with a pillow under my buttock and it helps with the discomfort.
