Can anyone PLEASE help me!

Hi everyone,
I am due to go in for my hyst on the 4th October. When I got my letter to tell me my date it said on there that if I am taking a contriceptive pill to STOP immediately. I am not taking the combined pill but I am taking Otovlan which just has one hormone in it. I am taking these to stop my continous bleeding and blood clots. I have tried finding out from my doctor and the gyni department and cannot get a sensible answer, I just do not know what to do.

Has anybody else been on any hormone medication prior to the op, and if so, where you able to carry on right up to the date of admission?

I don't want to go to my pre-op and be told that I should have stopped taking them and they can't do the op on the planned date.

Am so confused and getting stessed about this now.

I do not know the answer but it sounds like you need to call your Doc back and ask again. Better to ask the question that have problems later. Good luck

I too took birth control pills to stop bleeding prior to my surgery. I was told to take it up until the day before. Definitely check with your doctor. Oct 4 is a long time to live with heavy bleeding.

Whoa...thanks Denna for that tip. Thats good to know. I live on Ibprophen during Auntie Flo's visits. I knew about staying away from asprin, but hadn't heard about the IB's.

Sorry Jan that your stressing...I think calling your dr. is good advice...you'll stress till you know for sure.
