Cramps are like contractions - Need to vent!!

Last Friday, my doctor prescribed Naproxen (prescription Aleve) to help with my cramps until my surgery date, 6/6. NOT WORKING!!! Yesterday, her nurse called to let me know doc prescribed Tylenol 3. However, when I went to pick it up last night from my local pharmacy, they didn't have it because the nurse didn't realize that a controlled substance like Tylenol 3 has to be phoned in and cannot be sent electronically. Ugh!!!! So, I'm sitting here in pain until hubby gets home form work (only have one car) doing the best I can with this Naproxen and a muscle pain ointment rubbed on my belly. I think I smell like an old man! LOL Omg….cannot wait until this is all over!!! I'm the type of person who takes vitamins/supplements and uses essential oils. To have a need for OTC and now pharmaceutical drugs is freaking me out.

Anyway just wanted to vent!

Re: Cramps are like contractions - Need to vent!!

Use a heating pad or soak in the tub. I took two heating pads to surgery w me, as cleared by Dr. Used before and after surgery. I used those heat patches if I had to go somewhere and before surgery.

Thanks! Unfortunately, heat pads don't work for me anymore. My doc actually prescribed Tylenol 3. It only made me feel high. Pain still existed. But I'm ok now….. Once my cycle actually starts, the pain isn't as bad.

Re: Cramps are like contractions - Need to vent!!

I agree with you. My cramps felt like contractions as well, and I would get them on and off for days. They would wake me up during the night. They would come on during the day and last for quite a while. Sometimes Advil would help, but sometimes it wouldn't. I told my husband that it felt like someone had my insides in a vice. So glad to be free of the pain. Good luck

Have you tried muscle relaxants?

Re: Cramps are like contractions - Need to vent!!

I've never had contractions but I imagine my periods are similar to what they would feel like. I'll never have a period again now, thank goodness!

Re: Cramps are like contractions - Need to vent!!

I used to have cramps so bad I felt paralyzed sometimes. Oh god, I am so glad that is over. Sometimes I would actually do breathing exercises just to get through a cramp as if I were having a contraction. Nothing helped sometimes.
