Car ride home

We have two cars. A SUV and a Prius. I wonder if I would have better luck stepping up and sliding out of the SUV or squishing down and pushing up and out of the Prius. Anyone have any thoughts?

At first I thought it would be easier to get in and out of a car so I came home from the castle in a small vehicle. I found out later it was easier for me to get in to and out of our mid-size SUV. Good luck and may your recovery be uneventful!

Someone else posted here about using pillows for comfort...I would think you could use them for more height in the Prius.

Hard to say...

I would recommend the Prius. I don't know all the specifics, but we have a large SUV and even though I am very tall it was/is still hard to get in the SUV. The nurse had me sit with my legs out and then slowly swing the left leg and then the right...it was not a problem in a mid-sized car. Good Luck!!

I had the abdominal incision and had no problem getting out of my Torrent or GMC Jimmy.

One thing to consider is the SUV is going to be a bumpier ride than the car. And getting out is going to be rougher. I had to take an ambulance ride (which has no shocks) and the bumps were not comfortable at all!

While I went home in my mini-van, my MIL had to cart me around in her car and it was not bad at all.

I would vote for the Prius.

I would also consider your height. I am tall and went home in a SUV. If I had gone home in a smaller car, it would have been terrible in getting out. I would say seriously think about the one that is most comfortable before surgery.

Oh, I am NOT tall. 5'3 and overweight a lot.
I have running boards on the SUV; it is a Chevy Trail Blazer. I do not think I am more comfortable in either vehicle; they are just different. Maybe I will pay attention to that these next few days. Of course, I am usually swinging from the doors of the SUV twisting in and out and balancing on one foot for personal entertainment. I know I wont be doing THAT right away.
