Staples vs. Stitches?
I wonder why they put that kind of tape, is it because of the location of the surgery? I had mine an inch and a half below the bikini line.

Staples vs. Stitches?
I have a vertical incision, about 7 inches from hairline and extending above my belly button. I had a row of shiny staples that was taken out one week post-op. I was healing fast, and one staple wanted to hang on... that was my only ouch!

Staples vs. Stitches?
Perseverance ~ When the nurse found my 2 tape blisters (1 on each side of my bikini incision) she said the same thing "I don't know why they use this stuff in surgery". She said her only guess was that it has the most steril border because of the chemical that is in the tape.

Staples vs. Stitches?
Lady Boiler Not to many get that, so I am wondering if we needed that kind because of the location? Or is it Doctor's preference. I have had other adominal surgeries and had staples, and stitches, and a big white steri pads.

Staples vs. Stitches?
Perseverance ~ I don't know. When the same surgeon took out both oh my tubes and L ovary in 2003 I had almost as many staples (15 that time) and the same bikini incision but no blistering tape then. And you know what I was disappointed in how the surgical team shaved me because they didn't do a very good job, now that I think of it. They should have shaved me lower so even the skin-friendly tape wouldn't have hurt so badly. I should have shaved myself this time like I did the last time! OK, ok, I know, TMI.

Staples vs. Stitches?
I had interior stiches and 15 staples on the outside. I was dreading the staple removal, but I had absolutely no discomfort at all. After the staples were removed, steristrips were applied and they stayed on for about two weeks.

I didn't know we are allowed to shave hmm there???? Know how you feel . I had student meds, joke that this is like a waxing. Boy, they weren't kidding. Also very humbling, mine was not at the bikini line but lower because of other vertical surgeries.
What is a tmi in front of us girls esp, After all we have been through, and has been looked at where the sun don't even shine literally .

Staples vs. Stitches?
I had a LSH and have a bunch of little incisions (no, not the 'three' little ones like the pictures say.) The three larger ones were closed with some sort of skin glue? I wish they would have used stitches on the middle one as I still have 'weeping' from it. But then again, I may have with stitches, too.
I am really allergic to most 'normal' surgerical tapes and had to keep reminding my nurses and doctors and all that I can't have 'that' tape, find the special one. I even had a special allergy band saying that. but, Jeesh! Most were so nice about it except this one. She was like, Ihad to look all over the floor to find 'your' tape. *rolling eyes* Where did everyone else find it? I bet they just hid it from her. *snort*

Staples vs. Stitches?
I had internal stitches I suppose but the skin incision was glued. On top of it was a see through film like sticky cling film which came off really easily. The scar is very flat thin and neat so no complaints there. I asked the nurse what sort of scar heals better staples or stitches or glue and she said she had seen them all and didnt think it made any difference but mine was very easy and nothing to to take out and it looks very well healed and has never been red and angry. She said it was all down to the surgeons preference.
