Walking is what has done it for me. I used to go to the gym daily and I lost 8 lbs and that was it even though I did classes and weights. Needless to say, when I stopped, I gained that back an more. Walking briskly has been effective and I am down 50 lbs give or take a few. I walk 10km daily and 12 km on the weekends. The other thing is to watch my portions and calories. I use Myfitnesspal website to keep track of those. I still eat everything I want but just a lot less of it. I love food so I am not about to deprive myself.... something about the French live to eat and not eat to live. I hope that this helps.

Re: How did you lost weight after your hysterectomy?

The thing that works best for me is a low carb/sugar, high protein diet. I don't count calories and eat if I'm hungry but it has to be low sugar. I have the metabolism of a slug too but this really works for me.
Everyone is different though.

Lowcarb, low sugar, low dairy and eating more fresh foods vs process foods works best for me. My metabolism has definetly changed since surgical menopause. I have managed to keep the weight off, but it takes more effort on my part.

I went Primal. (check out Mark's Daily Apple)

It was hard at first but now is second nature.

I took it one step at a time, giving up wheat products first. Still drinking coffee tho.

I've lost 60 lbs in less than two years. Don't even think about it any more or constantly worry about my weight. I'm leaner and in a smaller size than I usually am at this weight. I am at a point where if I lose more...great. If I don't, then I figure this is were my body is comfortable.

I do hand weights/pilates (mild form) 2-3 times a week. When I walk I do it because I feel like it and I walk a long, slow way.

I've lost 50 lbs by counting calories and lots of exercise. I really love zumba and yoga. I track my food and fitness on a website called SparkPeople.

Re: How did you lose weight after your hysterectomy?

I don't count calories although I should. I probably need to do it healthier, since I'm trying to ward off taking medicine for diabetes. I cut out sodas, my favorite sweet tea walk and do a variety of workouts so as I'm not bored with one thing. I definitely had to cut my carbs. I'm losing, but I'm having the most problem with my stomach. It's frustrating, but I try to push my way through it. I definitely feel better and am more motivated post op
