what to take to the hospital

Hi! I'm scheduled for Nov. 4th Dvh supracervical I hope leaving in my ovaries. Anyone have recommendations on what to take to the hospital for the "just 1 night" I hope? All the lists are for regular stays. Anyone have any other hints about Dvh for either pre or post op? Thank you so much!

Re: what to take to the hospital

Jbarnet4,

I followed the list for regular stays and just deleted a few things. I'm not packing a nightgown or shampoo since I'll probably wait til I get home to take a shower. I also added ear plugs since I read here they can be useful if there is alot of noise. For hints you can search on this siter for DaVinci or RALH and you'll find plenty of info from other posts. I'm headed to the castle tomorrow. I wish you the very best.

Re: what to take to the hospital

I had a LAVH on 10/14, 4 days PO, and feeling great. I took everything on the Hystersyster's list and would recommend it all. The list was very appreciated as I'm sure I would have forgotten a few things. I didn't take a show until I got home but the hand lotion and lip balm were invaluable. I would only add eye patches to darken your room. I had a single room which was awesome but the nurses kept leaving my bathroom light on the and door open. The light was a little irritating but I didn't want to keep bothering the nurses to ask them to shut it.

Good luck and wish you the best of luck and an easy recovery.

Re: what to take to the hospital

I ended up sending everything home with my hubby & then having it brought back the next day. I was too out of it to need anything the hospital couldn't do. We are all different though.

Re: what to take to the hospital

I hada RALH on 10/9 and brought everything on the Hystersisters list but ended up not using anything. I just stayed in the hospital gown and took my first shower at home. I wish I had brought some kind of hard candy for my throat, it was so dry after I woke up. Good luck! I am so glad I was able to have a DaVinci procedure, the recovery is going so well!

Re: what to take to the hospital

I didn't use anything I brought, except for lip balm. I was too tired and sore, and had too many tubes and things to use pajamas or a night gown, and was too out of it to use anything else. Lip balm was good, though. I was home about 48 hours after surgery. TaH-kept one ovary

Re: what to take to the hospital

i had my RALH 4 months ago- i didn't use anything i brought- the only thing you might want to have is slippers and some lip balm. I would make sure that you have a soft pillow with you though for the ride home to put under the seatbelt!!!! THAT IS A MUST.........

Re: what to take to the hospital

I had da Vinci at 8:30 am & was home by 9pm! The only things I needed were: lip balm, slippers, loose, comfy pajamas to wear home, and pillows to brace my tummy for the ride home. I did get a belly band at the hospital, and that is still a godsend. But, everyone is different. I brought my IPod, and had DH bring it to me while I was on the potty after the cath was removed. I was listening to relaxing music, and could barely make it to the bed after I almost fell asleep on the toliet! Must've been the meds!
Wishing you the best of recoveries! I'm still sore, but certainly don't feel like I've had major surgery.

Re: what to take to the hospital

I was in the hospital only one night. I used lip balm, my iPod, and my slippers. I also took clean underwear to change into for the ride home, although I wore the same clothes there and back.

I did have another bag with a lot more stuff in it that ended up staying in the car. I would also be over-prepared than under-prepared, but I really could have managed with just a gallon-size baggie

Remember to put your surgery date in your profile (Quick Links and then Edit Details) to let us know when to include you on our Best Wishes to our November 4 Princesses post!

Re: what to take to the hospital

Night gown, undies, shampoo, slippers. I was so out of it the 1st day, which was great I thought so I did not use anything except these things.
