Had a set back-day 9

I decided to take a shower this morning (not my first-been taking them every other day, but my first with no one home). I was feeling a little off, but thought a shower would help. I had to keep resting against the wall, then started dry-heaving and getting really dizzy. My heart was racing and I was having trouble breathing. It came on so fast!

I stumbled out of the shower and into the floor. I had my cell phone in reach and called my mom (she lives a mile away-DH was at work, 45 minutes away). She wanted me to call 911, but I insisted she come instead. Last thing I wanted was some cute paramedic seeing me naked and wet!

I was finally able to get clothes on and get into my chair. I sat there for an hour, insisting on no ambulance. I did call my surgeon, though. He said the sudden onset sounds like I could have the flu that's going around. Ugh. He said the other possibility is just doing too much. I did pick up some things off the floor last night and wore myself out (two young kids-this place gets cluttered!).

He said if its the flu, there's not much I can do. It will hit hard and fast and I'll be down for the count for a week or so. I have my post-op on Thursday. He said that will just be an incision check and chat. No internal exam.

I did get groceries this afternoon, as it was already planned and much needed. My mom drove and I used a motorized cart, with her getting the stuff I pointed to. I really didn't feel this was too much for 9 days out, but I feel like I've been run over. And I had to take my pain meds an hour early.

All that to say, I hope I don't have the flu!!

Re: Had a set back-day 9

I had a similar set back; I was cleared to take a sit down bath - OMG! It felt great, but I suffered dearly afterwards, couldn't get the pain pills in me fast enough. Now I'm afraid to get in the tub, so back to showers maybe for another week. Be careful, ignore the mess, I know its hard, but for "our' own good.
