My big day Martch 13 th

I'm getting ready for my TAH scheduled for March 13th, I'm not nervous or anxious this week we'll see how I feel as the date approaches!
I'm 54 and have 3 large fibroids the largest is 14CM, I had an unsuccessful UAE done July of last year.
Now I'm just so ready to get these things out of me and stop feeling like I'm carrying around a watermelon along with back pain and my bladder being smashed!
I have read a lot of positive post op comments and I'm hopeful that all will turn out great!
What a terrific web site this is!

Hi pisces lady

I am so glad you found this site. Emotions can intensify as your surgery date approaches.

Re: My big day Martch 13 th

Stopping in to say hello as well. I had 3 detected fibroids, one 10cm (which doubled in size over 4 months), and ultimately my doctor lost count at 15. It's major surgery, but the problems Ol' Lumpy gave me are gone, and a few other perks include not having a leaky bladder.

Keep busy for the next week - frozen meal prep, house cleaning, making your home post-op ready like putting things in easy reach and decluttering. It'll help you after surgery annnnd keep your brain occupied .

Thank you so much, I appreciate your support. I will be taking your advice as well as a number of tips from this site.
Luckily I have a very helpful hubby that cooks and helps clean and he will be there for me helping out. I will keep you posted!:

Re: My big day Martch 13 th

Hello, fellow Pisces!

This is indeed a fantastic site. There is so much useful information here for before and after your procedure! Hope your explorations continue to yield good things for you.

marestail is right-- emotions can tend to ramp up as The Date approaches. Over the course of a month or so I went from academically curious to apprehensive to embarrassingly in tears as I was wheeled into the OR. The good news is, that was the worst part of this whole situation! It can be hard to be in that waiting period where your imaginations and fears play tetherball with your mind.

As you'll see in the threads, each woman's procedure/experience is different, so YMMV. My own has been bump-free and positive; I tend to not say so too often here on HS because other womens' recoveries haven't gone as well and I don't want to come off as humblebragging (which might be a common sentiment among those who have less-problematic recoveries...?).

Welcome, and take good care of you!

Re: My big day Martch 13 th

Pisces Lady - Hello! I am also 54 and had a large fibroid (4.6lbs/18CM) and several small ones that I walked around with for many years. Until I finally decided last summer to have my TAH. As others have said - this is an awesome site to understand before, during and after as well as connect with women going through the same surgery. I found it invaluable!

I too was anxious and nervous - but was okay the morning I was checking in for surgery with my sister by my side - I knew I was on the road to recovery!

My TAH went well - I was up and walking the next day. Home within 2 days. Five months later and I can say with confidence - best thing I have ever done. I no longer look or feel pregnant and my body I think breathed a big sigh of relief and said "thank you - we can now operate normally again". My only advice is to do all the right things post surgery - walking - lots of water - peppermint tea - good healthy food and lean on your peeps when you need them and take very good of yourself. Day by day. All the best of luck!

Re: My big day Martch 13 th

Hello!

I am also having a TAH on 3/13! I hope it helps to remember that somewhere up north in Chicago, there is another woman going through the same thing at the same time. You are not alone!

Good luck and happy healing!
