Nausea post hysterectomy day #6

Hi!

I had a radical hysterectomy on Dec 13. I had a nausea patch behind my ear up until day 3 post op. I stopped Percocet on day#4 and now only need Motrin 800mg about once a day. Starting today on day#6 post op, I have had nausea and some menstrual like pain that's making me miserable (nausea more so than pain). Is anyone else experiencing this?

Yes, me too. It tends to be worse in the morning but I had something to eat last night and felt immediately 'zonked'. I've got the weird menstrual-type pain as well when I know it can't be! I expect it's the internal stitches. When you get out of hospital so quickly you kind of forget you had so much done!

Nausea post hysterectomy day #6

I was prescribed Oxycodone, which caused nausea and vomiting. I stopped taking it on day 4, and by day 6, I was pretty much back to normal. Some people don't clear these drugs from their system so quickly, and it's common to still have issues for up to a week after stopping them. Drinking plenty of water, and eating more leafy green vegetables will help to support your body's detoxification process. To directly treat the nausea, ginger is a well known remedy, so have some crystallized ginger, ginger tea, or flat ginger ale - the fizz can bother your stomach. Also avoid hard to digest foods until things settle down; that includes legumes, onions and garlic, cruciferous vegetables, cucumbers, melons, pears, and artificial sweeteners. Here's hoping you'll be over this soon, and back on the road to recovery!

I was worried about wound infection but it looks ok I have mild burning at urethra but no urgency or anything to indicate UTI. I feel better today so hopefully it was pain meds and it's over.
