Question about pain after hysterectomy

I had a hysterectomy last week Thursday. Uterus only taken out, laproscopy through vaginal removal. Have been doing really well, began walking immediately after surgery and other than being really exhausted from back to back exploratory surgery followed a couple of weeks later by the hysterectomy, no real pain, no real problems. I've been taking it mostly easy and other than walking, lying down a lot and resting. So again, on a pain scale, not really having any problems, other than some mild discomfort, general soreness in the belly, etc.

This morning, while half asleep and waking up, I did what I am prone to doing on waking up, which is do a really deep full body stretch that involves basically a back bend while lying down if you can picture it, a really DEEP stretch that thrusts the pelvis and stomach out. Well needless to say the immediate jolt of pain woke me up really quickly, and I have felt pain and soreness ever since, like a pulled a muscle or something in my stomach, I am not sure.

Any idea what I did to myself? This is the worst pain I've been in, no bleeding or anything but this is kind of an ...ow.

Any thoughts appreciated. P.s I also have to say the booklet in my hospital room really helped, my husband read it through and he's constantly telling me things like "The book said you can't do that yet". So thanks for the pampering I am getting.

Re: Question about pain after hysterectomy

I did nearly the same thing when I was early post op. It was at around one week after surgery. I was convinced I had torn something or had done some damage. I saw my surgeon at 10 days out, and he said all appeared normal, and it was likely that with all the swelling and tenderness, I just pulled a muscle and it kept getting irritated. He just had me make sure to take my ibuprofen regularly for a few days, not just as needed. He was right, it just went away. Hopefully that is the case for you too.

Thanks I'll try taking some ibuprofen on a regular basis.
