Poop question... might be TMI

Hi Lala

It's very possible that the kind of bowel movements you are having now are what would be considered normal size. Depending on what was going on inside of you, it's likely you had things pressing on your bowels and intestines making it difficult for waste products to pass through effficiently. Now that you're not suffering from any obstructions your body is able to do its job more effectively. It doesn't sound like anything you should be concerned about. Peace to you!

Are you taking anything to help your BMs like MOM or a stool softener? These will get your system moving faster than you are used to. Ditto with extra water. Your system might just be working better than before.

Lol I kind of thought that since there's nothing there pressing on my bowels that it woudl stand to reason that the poop will be longer...
I do not take any softeners- it doesn't hurt, it's just different than before.

I have the same experience and was thinking it's because there's more room for my bowels to function now. At first it scared me but now I feel like it's helped tremendously! It used to hurt so bad to have a BM as everything was swollen in there any bearing down would be painful. Now, that problem is gone! Yahoo!

I had the same thing. However, I go so much better than before the surgery, so that HAS to be a good to have the system running at top speed!

Poop question... might be TMI

I am 10 days post op. I have noticed the exact same thing. My poops are huge. My BF says I should be proud. That is a man for you. I am taking a stool softener as they are much larger and things inside still need to heal. I also had a bladder sling so not only is the uterus and ovaries gone but the bladder has been moved also.

Anyone here have menstrual like cramps if they need to go?

Also walking will trigger those same cramps.

Poop question... might be TMI

Hi Ladies,
I am six months post-op and can totally relate, the new poop thing was a bit of a shocker. Before the surgery it was quick, short, and sometimes painful although it's not now right before hand I get these pains in my lower back or sharp pains internally right before , is anyone else experiencing this?

Have you ever heard Dr. Oz talk about poop on Oprah? He says your goal is for it to be in the shape of an S in the water or at least a C. Well since hyster I have made S's Dr. Suess would be proud of. I think the complete bowel prep I did before surgery has had an affect. And the fact that junk type food does not appeal to me right now. Maybe this healthy living is good for me!

That is just too funny. Humor is a great way to help us all heal. Maybe we should all read the book "Everybody Poops"
