I work 115 hours a week need advice
Ok i'm a bit nervous about going back to work. I see a lot of people go back to work part time to start with. As you can see the hours i work part time for me is still probably more then most people would normally work. I work in a private home and wonder how everyone feels after they go back to work.. I really want to know if you are truly tired and if you all are sore. For me going back part time may not be an option. At six weeks will i feel like super woman again so i can go back to my normal routine?

Re: I work 115 hours a week need advice
What type of surgery did you have? If you are working in a private home, can you lay down? For me, yes I was truely tired, wore out. I went back at 2 weeks 5 days to desk job for 5hrs a day. I am now taking another week off. I did not expect the little things to wear me out so bad. I am now slowing down again. Your body will tell you. Be careful!! And good luck!!

Re: I work 115 hours a week need advice
Excuse me if I am being rude, but what exactly do you do for a living? I just don't think you can continue your recovery and work those kind of hours unless you are alotted rest breaks. I have two more weeks and feel I need them just for recovery. The pain is finally gone and I can move freely around my home and community. I realize I am very fortunate to have short term disability and left over sick time so I am receiving full pay. Best wishes to you and your contined recovery.

Re: I work 115 hours a week need advice
took me awhile to understand how someone could work that many hours in a week, seemed impossible to me,,i was figuring out the math and thought wow when does this lady sleep or get rest...but then i remembered about 6yrs ago or so i used to work for a private in home family who were very challenged and had 4 challenged children, and i moved in and had my own living space, but the hours were crazy as i was like the caretaker who took care of house, mom, children,,,i did everything from break of dawn to near break of dawn next day as there is really no way you can get much sleep or rest doing that type of work, especially if you live in the home full time, eventually i found myself being everything to everyone ((except the father in that house, he did his own thing and i was pretty much even the dad role)))crazy but i took it all on cuz i really wanted to see these children and this mom find a happy, balanced life,,but eventually i got burnout really bad and these children really needed intense care to the point they should have had professional medical counselling, but the family for some reason chose not to have their children in outside counselling other than what they got at school, which i drove them daily as mom didnt have license and let me tell ya even that was a very dangerous chore as these children could be violent and burst out at any given time....wow i havent thought of that in long time of the intenseness and how it took my whole life for long time, then i let the job go....so if this is what your doing now, my heart goes out to you....now i know how a person can actually work a full 24/7 week and really in the long run its not good to work that much as our bodies need R&R to find our balance...but we all have diff lifestyles and i understand...so my suggestion is yes you will need the full 6wk post op recovery time, with not working at all in that time if you want to heal right the first time and not have any complications...and when u go bk to work my suggestion is take it very slow and easy even if you have to go bk part time if thats possible...sorry for the long post, this just brought back lots of memories for me...i hope you make the best decision that is right for you...Peace be with you

Re: I work 115 hours a week need advice
I can't imagine going back to that so soon after surgery. I have found that when I work from home, for the few hours that I do - and when I went in for a short meeting I was exhausted. I even laid down on a couch during the meeting.
You don't want to have any major set-backs, or injure yourself in a way that will bring life-long difficulties to you.
Please be careful, and give yourself time to heal.

Re: I work 115 hours a week need advice
I would definitely take the six weeks off. Doing that much will definitely tire you out. I have a feeling you will find yourself really tired and needing a break during the day. I hope you can somehow do part time or at least take rest breaks throughout the day. good luck.
