Ladies after 7 weeks of feeling terrible and thinking I'm not going to get through this I'm finally seeing the light.my tummy is still a little tender but I'm starting to walk well.my only thing I have is my anger outburst now and again.also I was terrified to have sex as I was worried it would be different.but ladies may I say WOW what a surprise.no problem with orgasm as some say.and I'm a happy lady today.this site has helped me so much through my bad times in recovery and I just want to thank you all x

I'm on day 6 and I'll sheepishly say I've been frustrated with myself because I'm still taking pain meds and laying around. My Dr was adamant that I couldn't walk more than to the restroom or to change rooms for 2 weeks. I thought he was being overly cautious but no problem. Until I realized how long 2 weeks actually are. Even though I'm still constipated, incisions hurt, very weak and when I walk I feel like I'm carrying a watermelon in my stomach, I feel guilty and antsy. Reading your post was a God send today. It reminded me I'm in the very beginning of recovery and everyone heals differently. Some women are already walking around the neighborhood and some, like me, are having a harder time of it. It's a slow process for a reason... One mishap or misstep can put you back several days or worse, a second surgery to fix our stubborn overzealous actions. Thank you for the reassurance and the updates. I'm happy you're feeling more yourself and that you took the time to post this update. Prayers for your continued recovery and health.

Re: week 7 and starting to feel good

Hi I'm 10 days post hysterectomy. I'm 46. So glad to hear a good report. I had fibroid and heavy bleeding and mother who passed of ovarian cancer 2 years ago so I had everything out. Have a wonderful husband of 28 years, 2 sons 24 and 20. Both married to their longtime sweethearts. Mine was done vaginally and an excellent dr so my recovery has been almost pain free. Walking right after surgery. Still taking it easy as dr ordered. Too much time to read horror stories bout post op sex. Your post was so refreshing! I know all ppl are different but as my sex life was good before there is hope it will be after! Thank you Mrs bodds. Lol

Hi Sunflowerbeck,
I think our situations are similar -- I am 44, married 21 yrs, three teenagers... had everything removed in a DaVinci procedure. Just wondering if you are going to go on estrogen or any HRT. It has been a difficult, confusing decision for me and I'd love another perspective - thanks!

Re: week 7 and starting to feel good

Hi GraceAnne M. I know hrt so confusing. I have decided to trust my dr. He said we would address any synptoms I'm having at my 3 wk appt. I have read sooo much and so many pros and cons on it. I feel I need a personal focus on just me. The dr that did my hysterectomy also delivered my 2 boys and I've seen only him since so hopefully we can come to a conclusion just for me. So far I have had maybe 1 hot flash, some difficulty falling asleep, but I'm used to working a 40 hour week job in a factory so this is different for me being home all the time. I expect to get back to sleeping better when I return to work. I am experiencing some dry, itchiness in vaginal area not sure if that's from surgery or lack of hormones. I am determined to have an active, happy life again and wonderful, loving sex life with my husband so if hrt is needed temporarily I will def be open to it. Don't know if this helps, but interested in what you decide to do also. Happy healing. Many prayers.

Re: week 7 and starting to feel good

I discussed with my Dr. just last week. Because I am healthy, she said that she was comfortable with letting me decide whether to go on HRT or to just allow surgical menopause to take its course. After I shared my thoughts and findings (I have read a lot too - maybe too much!), she and I decided together that I would use a patch with the lowest possible dose. I just started it this past Saturday. I haven't really noticed any changes or anything, but my symptoms weren't too bad to begin with. I think it takes a while to fully kick in anyway. My hope is to continue this for the next 5-7 years, until the average age of natural menopause. Dr. said that she and I will discuss every year when I come in for my checkups, and encouraged me to call any time I had questions or felt that I needed a change. I too have enjoyed a great sex life with my husband and am looking forward to getting back to it. Surgeon said I should wait 12 weeks (TWELVE!), so we are only halfway there. :/ Anyway, best of luck to you, and keep me posted on what you do if you think about it. THANKS!

Hi graceanne.i have been a lucky lady since my hysterectomy.ive had a couple of hot flashes but none since.also I do have bouts of anger really bad but they soon go.i am trying to stay away from the hrt side of it.as for the 12 weeks of no sex I would do what the Dr orders and enjoy making up for lost time after😄it's funny because today I felt fabulous but tonight I have had a little tightness in my tummy again.so feeling a little disappointed in myself.wishing you a speedy recovery

Hi. Had my 3 wk post op appt yesterday. Dr said all was healing well. Thankfully, my Pathology was all good. I had planned to return to work on the 7th but due to the hot, factory work I do he suggested to wait til I see him on the 13th when he expects to release me fully. When I told my symptoms he said he could take care of that with estradiol 1 mg. Started it today. Feel good so far. Hope this is all I need. And I too hope to come off it in a few years. Just thought I would update. Happy healing!
