A New Princess!!

Hi Everyone! I had a TVH 8 days ago and am doing extremely well, aside from the head cold I've developed (that's another issue). I just thought I'd mention a couple of things for LIW to keep in mind. 1. Bring ear plugs. I was so glad I had because my room was right across from the nurses station, and it was constantly busy outside my room. 2. Morphine - I woke in the recovery room with a morphine pump, which would have been wonderful if I hadn't developed a severe nausous reaction to it. I spend the next day feeling quite ill, until everyone decided the morphine was to blame and the pump was removed. I just took Tylenol 3's after that and was fine. I had never had any experience with morphine before, but will never use it again. I wish I had told the doctor that I had had been given demerol before and it was fine; they may have decided to use it in the first place. Just a couple of things for you to consider!

A New Princess!!

Welcome Home Rosie,

I'm so sorry that you had a bad reaction to the morphine, and hope that the rest of your recovery will go well, once you've gotten rid of the head cold.

Be sure to follow Allison's advice and Pamper the Princess as much as possible.

A New Princess!!

Welcome home! I'm so glad everything worked out for you. Great!

I learned from being in the hospital 3 weeks before my surgery that I will always KEEP THE DOOR CLOSED to my room. It cuts down tremendously on the noise level. Everyone who came in had to open the door and that was just fine with me. It kept the lights and the noise out.
