on the couch

My bedroom is upstairs so I will be spending alot of time on my couch. Any advice/suggestions for me? How long before I should be able to climb the stairs?

Re: on the couch

all our bedrooms are upstairs too - i could go up & down stairs ( slowly & carefully) as soon as I got home. ( had TAH/BSO too). But i stayed on couch mostly - only used my bedroom for bedtime as we don't have TV up there, etc.
For couch - the most handy thing I did was to get a bed/ tray table. I set that up over me most of the time on couch ( protect belly from jumping cats) and kept on it: remotes, phone and a velcroed tupperware container holding: meds, lip balm, mini lotion, thermometer. Also could put my laptop on it to type. When i started to heal more, i just kept it next to me on the couch. Very handy to have everything there.

Best of luck to you - let us know how you're doing!

Re: on the couch

Make sure you have a table by the couch with all your goodies @ hand. I waited until my 2 week post-opt. Had to take them after the doctor visit. If you really have to go up..Backwards & slowwwwww..Wishing You a Speedy Recoveryyyyy

Re: on the couch

When I was going over my discharge instructions with the nurse, I asked about stairs because my bedroom and the bathroom were on the second floor. She said I could use the stairs, but to limit myself to a couple of times a day. I felt no pain going up or down the stairs.

Re: on the couch

I am 10 days post op and have been doing the stairs since I came home from the hospital. I limited the stairs to once or twice a day but I did not feel as trapped as if I stayed in one area. I had someone near me when I took more then just Motrin! Good luck waiting really has been the worst part for me!
