3 days post hysterectomy and doing a happy dance; BM finally!

Had my surgery thursday afternoon, so technically this is day 3. Sorry if this is TMI, but I was just about to send my husband to the store for a laxative of some kind, because my stomach is just continually blowing up because I cant have a BM. I have been taking a stool softener, and gas x, but nothing was helping.....until now!!! Went for the first time and as much as it hurt and I struggled with the pain to go, i feel so much better now!!! I am hoping that from here on out i will go regularly!!! I have been walking quite a bit, and forcing myself to sit still, but have not been tired. Night time is awful, because i am a stomach sleeper, so sleeping on my back is horrible. My bed is very high so getting up on my own is not fun. The worst part of the whole thing has been the GIANT BELLY. Just before i had the surgery i had lost almost 15 pounds and my stomach was getting to be slimmer...NOW I feel like a big fat pig!!! I hope it goes away. BLAHHHHH

Re: happy dance

It will go away, but may take longer than you want it to take. Be kind to yourself.

Re: happy dance

I had surgery three days ago and understand how you feel. Also had rectocele repair while having total hys terectomy. Stitches everywhere. My vagina is so swollen that has pushed outward and I am so uncomfortable. Just trying to relax until my body starts healing, and poor husband is having to put up with me.
