Insurance Question

Hi everyone! I was just wandering how insurance works with surgery...mine should cover a percentage of the surgery, then will I get billed for what it doesnt cover?

And then what about all of the pre-op and post-op visits, is that like regular co-pay?

I am worried how in the world I will pay for this surgery and being out of work with short term disability only paying me half of my weekly salary!!! (I dont mean to sound ungrateful, I am thankful to have some income coming in while I am out of work, I am just worried about paying my bills)

Insurance Question

Post op should just be your co-pay. Most offices will work with you to set up a payment plan with whatever you can afford.

Insurance Question

If you are unsure of what type of plan your company has, check
with the Human Resources Dept. Depending on what type of plan you have, you may not have to pay anything but the DR co-pays.
My company's plan paid for everything except the co-pays.

Also, if you are employed by a large company (50 or more employees), you are also eligible for FMLA.

If you already have your surgery date scheduled, let HR know and they will start the paperwork for FMLA, STD insurance and getting papers for the DR to fill out.

I hope this helps. Good luck to you and let us know how you are doing as soon as you are able.

Insurance Question

Hi

Usually the post op visits are part of the surgery charges. The pre op stuff, like blood work, etc are part of surgery.

And yes, usually after the hospital and DR get whatever the insurance is going to pay they bill you. But sometimes you have to pay your portion in advance.

You can call your DR, the hospital, and your insurance company to find out an apx amount that you may be liable for.

Best wishes!
