I survived!!!!!

lol I really did!!!!

More details later.. but my word of advise to anyone having surgery and know certain pain meds don't work on them - tell them you are alergic so they will put it on you band!!!! I told everyone around me including the dr. not to use morphine because it did not work and guess what I woke up with - MORPHINE!!!!!!!

Anyways, after hours in major pain she finally realized what I was talking about and used some other stuff and got it under control!!! yea!!!
(and I told her more than once she was stingey with pain meds!!)

But all is well! Vertical incision - 24 staples and doing pertty well.... walking drinking and trying to pass gas!!!!

Sorry for all the spelling errors if there are any... i am about to pass out from my pain meds kicking my butt!!!

More later!!!

Good luck to all the princesses in waiting!!!!!

Yay! Glad to see you alive and kicking

I realized about 10 hours after my surgery that I was allergic to Dilaudid.. not a severe reaction but uncontrollable itching. They changed my pain medication and I was fine.

I am a nurse and I offer pain medication when it is available to my patients. Healing comfortably is so important. I am sorry you had unsympathetic care. It's important to keep on your nurse or request a different one if you don't feel you are getting the needed care.

The crown looks beautiful!! So glad you're home, but right now, instead of posting, you should be resting!!! Although, as Friday approaches, it was nice to hear from you and that everything (mostly) well.

Lots of wishes for a speedy, uneventful recovery. Right now, I am just a lady in waiting. I will be crowned on Friday!!

How can hospitals do this. I am so glad you are OK!! Yes, the code words that hospitals pick up on are "allergies", and "adverse reactions".

Here's what I said to Kelly00, who asked about morphine as well back on 7/11. I'm sorry you missed it, but I'll put it here in case others see it to know what they need to do to make sure they record an adverse reaction to morphine.
***************
(from my 7/11/05 post to Kelly00)
Make sure if they ask you if you have any allergies, that you respond that you have an adverse reaction to morphine- be specific as to what you had if you can. If the hospital has a computer system, make sure this gets entered into the computer system, because then any orders (including IV's) from the pharmacy will get checked by their interaction software to make sure that they do not include something with morphine. And then, for the less computer literate, get them to write it on the front of your chart.
*********************

Am glad that you are OK. Next time (hope there never is a next time), you can come to MY hospital. Hugs and be a princess now.
