Surgical Tape

I have surgical tape over the four incision areas from the LAVH. How long are they supposed to remain on? I have taken showers and they're still there but are beginning to itch and have a slight odor.

Surgical Tape

My Dr. said to remove them when I got home. My surgery was Friday, and I took them off today. They peeled off very easily and then I showered.
You may want to call the nurse just to be sure.

take it off

I would say take the tape off...My tape came off my 2nd day (dr took it off)--and thank goodness it did...I was left with adhesions/sores from where the tape was...In just 24 hours-it was pretty bad...As long as you are keeping clean-oxygen is good for wounds anyways--take the tape off...

Surgical Tape

Hey There!
I still have mine on but Doc said they would start coming off after 10 days. My incision is 7 inches long so I am gonna let them do their work. I am too nervous to take these off myself!

Surgical Tape

Hi Diamond1 ;

I believe most doctors say "they will fall off" after a bit. If they are coming off on their own, go ahead and try to peel them off yourself. Be careful that they aren't "stuck" to a scab.

Most of mine fell off on their own and the rest I had to pull off. I just got my fingernail under the tape while in the shower and gently pull.

Best wishes to you!

Surgical Tape

I had LAVH and doc took tape off when I was still in hospital- so about two days after surgery. Ring and ask but I think it'd be fine to remover- itching sounds unbearable.
