postop

hello ladies,
yes, I am rest mode big time. Feeling very relieved that I listened to my body and not my pcp. She did not want me to have the surgery, stated I should wait for the fibroid to dry up.
well, the fibroid was huge. my ob/gyn had me scheduled for a laproscopic hysterectomy - with a possiblity of an incision.
of course, woke up to find an incision. the fibroid was starting to wrap itself around the tissues that carries blood to my kidneys and was entangling itself around some intestines, it was pressing on my pelvic bone, etc.
I was one lucky woman to have had the surgery. If I would have waited I would have had more serious complications.
I am just so glad it is all over and on the road to recovery, still feeling sore especially on my left side where the fibroid was the largest. But feeling the difference that I do not have a strange object in my body.
Fear not, listen to your body, do what needs to be done.

Re: postop

I'm glad you listened to your body and made the right choice. I too had a choice to make on very little information and chose wisely. I had endo that had invaded my bowel. I was in so much pain and couldn't go to the bathroom hardly at all. No one could tell me for sure what was going on before the surgery eventhough I had a colonoscopy and ultrasounds etc. Now I am so relived and happy everything is fixed and all better. I can really relate to how you are feeling right now. Take care of yourself and heal beautifully.

Re: postop

i also had a choice to make. My doctor recommended a myomectomy over a hysterectomy since she felt I was so young. She only found one fibroid in the ultrasound and thought it would be a better choice for me. I just really felt like there was more going on in there though because my belly was so swollen and my kidneys and urethra and colon were always aching. I chose the hysterectomy because i did not want any chance of repeat surgery. After surgery she told me how happy she was with my decision because there was a conglomerate of fibroids and the uterus was at 20 weeks.
