Are you on post-op anti-biotics?
Hi ladies,
Just curious if any of you were given Rx for anti-biotics after surgery, what kind, and for how long? Is this pretty common?
I was sent home with Rx for Flagyl 250mg 3X a day for one week... I really don't like taking this stuff, (hard on stomach and bowels), but I am doing as Dr. ordered.
Figured I'd get back on my good digestive pro-biotics after I finish the script.

I was given Keflex to take every six hours after discharge, until it ran out. I completed it last weekend. I imagine it's fairly common; hospitals can be yucky places & it's good to knock out anything that may have hitched a ride home in our system.

I think I had antibiotics thru my IV while in hospital.

I was given two different antibiotics while in hospital then came home the day after surgery and started running a slight fever so now on Augmentin 2 x daily. The way my Dr talked this is normal.

Wasn't given any to come home with but I do know that they gave me Clindamycin during surgery.
