I just don't get it! Why can't my doctor fix me? Scared of my hysterectomy!

I'm hard on myself & I'm a control freak. Always been this way. I did my research as well and for the longest time I refused to acknowledge that I had to get the surgery. Whenever my doctor or mother talked about it, I would change the subject.

At 32 anemic, exhausted, in excruciating pain and resorting to adult diapers to deal with the heavy bleeding, I truly believed that my uterus was my nemesis. Why are you being so hard on yourself for something that is out of your control? Try to think of this as a blessing/ a new start and solution. Hope you find peace with this. Lastly I researched my conditions and surgery endlessly as soon as it was scheduled. I found that reading and talking to others who had already gone through the experience helped me immensely.

How much training did you undergo for your job? How many years of experience do you have? These are the things that make you the expert problem-solver you are *in your own field*.

I work in tax preparation. I'm the one in my department who gets the unusual situations that no one else can figure out. I'm also the one who gets all the computer questions. Like you, I'm a problem-solver, a fixer.

But when I've got a medical issue, I recognize that I don't have the training and the experience to deal with it on my own, so I head for my doc's office. In my case, the solution to the problem was: hysterectomy. The surgery *was* the fix.

Don't beat yourself up because you can't solve *all* the problems in the world. No one can. (This includes doctors faced with tax problems. I've had doctors ask me tax questions while I'm lying on the table with my feet in the stirrups!)

My surgery is 7:15 am. It's good to know I'm not alone eventhough I feel like I am.
Hold on to that one thought! I can't wait to be me again. Feels like I am getting a chance to live life again!

I can hardly wait!!! I am counting the hours and so looking forward to recovery and this summer. I have big plans and living on the couch on pain killers with a heating pad is NOT one of them!

I'm a are weeks post LAVH and the recovery has been easy. Personally I don't have any emotional component to thus surgery, maybe because I'm 47 and have had 30 surgeries in my life. Each us just a solution to a problem and I refuse to let it affect me negatively. I'm so relieved I'll never have a period again... That made it all worth it.

I'm starting to focus on the positive and not the negative. I'm just going through the stages...now I'm at the acceptence stage.

I supervise 37 elementary schools focusing on their special needs population.

I now understand that surgery is the solution. I just didn't want to acknowledge or accept it.

I am focusing on "being me again" & anxiously waiting for summer.

Tomorrow is our surgery. I'm the first one for the day.
