Hysterectomy yesterday (5/19): gas pains

A heating pad was the only thing that helped me. Walking around helped, but really the heating pad gave me the most relief. It only took a few days for the gas to go away.

As (((Catherine))) explained the gas you feel in your neck and shoulders won't respond to gas-x, anything you eat, or even having a bowel movement. It is the result of gas - outside the intestines- pressing on your diaphragm. That pain radiates up the the shoulder and neck area. I found that pain the be the worst pain I had after the first day. As others have mentioned, walking helps, sitting helps, using moist heat (like a hot towel wrapped in plastic) helps. Your body has to do the work of absorbing the gas. Mine was completely gone after the third day. Hopefully, yours is gone by now.
