Hi, I'm new here!

Hello!! I am so glad that I found this board!
My name is Lisa, I am 22 years old. I will be having a hystorectomy sometime within the next month or so. My OBGYN is just waiting for all the authorization stuff to get done with my insurance and then we will schedule my surgery.
The reason I am having a hyst is because I have severe uterine fibroids. My uterus is covered with hundreds of fibroids. There are so many that it will be impossible to remove them and still have a normal uterus. The fibroids have caused my uterus to be very large and abnormally shaped. I am always in really bad pain due to this. I cant really live a normal life with these cramps because they are constant and they are so bad that its hard to go anywhere or do anything. My OBGYN said that she has never seen a case of fibroids this severe and she has never had a patient as young as me with this problem (lucky me!).
The desision to have a hyst was a very tough one for both me and my husband. We know that we want to have another child in a few years ( I have an 8 month old son, thankfully), but I just cant deal with this pain any longer so we have decided that a hyst is what is best for me.
There are days when I get really depressed thinking about it but I am trying to stay strong. I know that after this is all done I will feel so much better.
Anyways, just thought I would introduce myself and brief you all on my situation. I look forward to getting to know you all!

Hi Lisa!

Welcome to hystersisters! We're glad you found us. I'm so sorry you'll have to be going thru this surgery at such a young age. I thought I was young for it (almost 33) but 22 does seems awfully young. It will be a blessing though when it's over because you won't have that awful pain anymore and you can walk upright and not hunched over. Also, it's great not having periods either! Let us know when you have a date set. In the meantime, we'll keep you in our prayers.

Oh, and here's a

Hi, I'm new here!

Lisa,

Welcome to Hystersisters! I'm sorry you are having to have this surgery, but also glad you found us.

22 is awfully young to have this done. But, if it means you will be free of that awful pain, you have to do what you have to do.

Please be aware that this is a loss and you will go through a grieving process. You may even need to seek professional counseling at some point. Most of us have gone through this, even if we have children, and even when we were already unable to have children. Seems kind of strange, but that is the way the mind works.

Remember to add your surgery date to your profile when you have it.

s Bless you, hon.
