I just went through four biopsy's for endometriosis yesterday. I sure wish someone would have warned me what this all was. I thought I was just going in for "pre-op" with the doctor! She wants to make sure that everything else is OK before doing a hysterectomy. I also have been set up to go see a GI specialist. Can anyone help me with what is going on????? All I wanted was a hysterectomy to stop the pain, bloating and bladder/bowel problems. Now I am more nervous then before. And the pain of the biopsy.....Oh my God!!!!
First, do some research. A hyst is not a cure for endo. It can be an effective TREATMENT. But it is by NO MEANS a cure!!
Here are some links.
The ONLY and I mean only way to DX endo is by seeing it! With a lap!!
Sorry about your pain.

THANK YOU BETH!!!! You gave me that link to the exact procedure that I had done. I can see where I got confused by what they were checking for. You guys are the GREATEST!!!!!! Thanks for all of the information, stories, and hugs! I feel more informed now that I know what is exactly going on. I am the type that gets so nervous during some of these procedures that I forget half of what they tell me. I guess I will just go through all the steps that my doctor wants me to so I can figure out what is going on. Not that I am looking forward to any of it, but it will help in the long run.
THANK YOU ALL!!!!!! YOU HAVE REALLY HELPED!!!! And you will be hearing lots more from me when I have the other tests done....You sure answer a lot of questions!!!!!

Have you got any answers as to what is causing your bloating, bladder and bowel problems? I have had bad bloating before and after surgery. I was just wondering if you have found anything out. My GP is referring me to a GI specialist to. Good luck!

I haven't gotten any real answers yet, that is why I am being sent to a GI. Any idea what we can expect on the first visit??? I am really nervous about this one. Don't like procedures being done at that end.

It can cause symptoms similar to IBS... that is in fact true.

Spaz417, I wouldn't worry too much about the Gi doc doing any procedures the first visit. I went for a first visit last week with a new GI Doc and he asked a ton of questions and more importantly he listened!!!! Which was a real treat. I do have to go for another procedure at the end of July, but nothing was done in his office. I am sure you will be fine, it is good that your gyn referred you to the GI b/c it is always good to rule out anything else that could be causing pain, bloating and discomfort/pain.

Gentle s,

Is this endo something that doctor's don't know much about yet, or do they like to diagnois it as something else that is easier to treat???? Telling you it is IBS for five years, when it is actually something all together different couldn't have helped you get the relief you wanted or needed. That is why I want all the information I can get on this. It scares me that it may be what is wrong with me, but no one wants to diagnois it as endo.
