Weight Watchers/Weight Gain

To prepare for the surgical induced menapause, I joined weight watchers two weeks ago. I already battle a weight problem and am scared that I will gain after my ovaries are taken out.

I have surgery on Tuesday, do you think I will feel like weighing in on the following Saturday?

If I do weigh in, do you think the bloating will make me heavier on the scale? Should I just skip this weeks weigh in?

I am excited, I have lost 6.4 lbs in two weeks. I am a size 16 now, so this may be why I am losing so quickly. But, hey a loss is a loss, right?

You ladies are the bomb!! Thanks for allowing me to be a HysterSister!

I am also having a TAH/BSO on july 17th. I think you should wait until after surgery and see how you feel. you may want to skip it. but see how you feel.
also on a side note my nurse at work is a hystersister, she also had a TAH/BSO and suggested we start getting out of bed and chairs as if we had an abdominal incision now to get the feel of using our leg and arm muscles. I've been getting out of bed that way, it feels different to use those muscles.
hugs sister,

Weight Watchers/Weight Gain

I think if you feel like going to the meeting, you should go and do the weigh in. Just realize there may be a little gain or no loss since you had surgery. If you decide to miss one weigh in, no big deal.

Good luck!

Weight Watchers/Weight Gain

If you don't feel well enough to go out, I wouldn't go. However if you feel up to it, I would go.

Your weight that week is going to be more dependent on your surgery and recovery than the program that week so don't worry about the number on the scale. A big part of the WW program is the support of the meetings, so why miss out on that?

When I was going to WW, my last leader told us if we didn't want to get weighed in, we didn't have to in order to attend the meetings.

Also, once you miss, you may not want to go back, especially if you still feel bloated the next week....and the next....

Personally I would go as long as I felt up to getting out of the house and sitting through the meeting, then ignore the scale so I knew how well I did the following week.

Take care and congrats on the initial weight loss.
