Re: Post Op seems a little negative :(
There are many of us that had a wonderful experience and just don't post as much now. I had a LAVH/BSO and did just fine. I did not keep my ovaries or cervix. I had three c-sections that were worse than my hysterectomy. Just do as your doctor says to do. Give your body time to heal and take the medicines they give you. My only regret- I did not take the pain meds and only took over the counter meds. I should have taken the pain meds the doctor gave me so I could have had deeper sleep at night for healing. I was afraid I would get addicted, but my Dr wanted me to sleep at night. I literally took the time to let my body heal and I did just fine. No regrets! Best thing I have done for me!!

Re: Post Op seems a little negative :(
If it makes you feel better.. I am 4 weeks post TAH today! I have had very little pain or soreness. Still taking it easy but just wanted you to know that not all post op stories are horror stories.

Re: Post Op seems a little negative :(
Thank you so much. Your posts are greatly appreciated! I've stayed away from the post-op. Glad to see you went on vacation after 8 weeks. I'm going on my weekend honeymoon 8 weeks post-op. Very worried about clothes fitting. Don't know how long to expect swollen belly. I'm tiny to begin with. So much to think about!

I am 1 week and 2 days post-op (LAVH) and have very little pain. I can feel my energy returning. Just wanted to let you know that there are some good recovery stories out there.

Re: Post Op seems a little negative :(
As much as a visit to the post-op boards will scare you pre-operatively, the opposite is true when YOU are post-op. It might be a good idea to stay away now, but you will be SO glad to have them later.
Regardlessly of the type of operation you have, it's never a walk in the park every step of the way. Sharing (or just reading) the concerns of the post-op sisters on this site have helped to comfort and sustain me through my healing journey. Just three weeks after my TAH, I already feel better than I did before surgery and know I made the right decision.
Good luck to you all. See you on the other side!

Re: Post Op seems a little negative :(
I am almost 6 wks post op and I was able to take a 3 day mini vacation with my DH and it was really good. I really did not have any pain or discomfort and I was glad we went.

Re: Post Op seems a little negative :(
Hi Cass:
Don't be too scared by what you saw on the post-op boards. I had a TAH on 1/29, and I have gone to the boards a few times -- but as a few others here have said -- I have gone there when I've had discomfort or felt bummed or needed support. Overall however, I've listened to my great doctor and had an almost-picture perfect recovery.
I was struck by how you ordered your belly band, etc in advance. I didn't do that, and was waiting by the mailbox for mine a wk after my release from the hospital!
Attitude isn't everything, but a good positive attitude sure will help you handle your recovery well. Looks like you already have that down. Perhaps stay away from post-op for now, but visit post-op if you have a question / concern.
Good luck!
