Does Everyone Have to do a Bowel Prep?

I had a TVH and did not have to do a bowel prep. My orders were only nothing to eat or drink after midnight. My surgery was at 8:30am.

I didn't have to do a bowel prep, either. When I told my doctor that I was relieved that I didn't have to do one, she said it was rather "old school" to have all of your patients do a bowel prep. It is probably necessary for certain people who have had previous surgeries or certain issues and maybe scar tissue.
