Name That Pain Question

So, I am almost two weeks out from a TVH, A&P repair, vaginal vault repair, perineal repair, and more- basically I was a mess and now everything looks right and works right- yay! I had "the works", and except for not waking up a size 8, so far, I am glad that I had it done.

But I am now having this wierd kind of pain- it's not terrible, it is manageable, but what the heck is it? After the initial hospital pain, I have had little to no pain, other than this wierd pain that is on the front right side, down low, almost between my hip and leg joint. It sometimes runs down the back of my leg as well. What the heck is that, and how can I make it go away? Yikes!

Tammy
Proud owner of a normally functioning bladder and bowels, and hey, my insides aren't falling out anymore either! Yay!

Tammy, sounds like we had the same surgery but unlike you I've had pain and/or discomfort since I've come home. Mainly in the backside.

In the last week though I've noticed I have pain on both sides pretty much where you say. I'm thinking it's from sitting differently (on either cheek) or something. It's almost like an inflammation - I can almost pinpoint exactly where it radiates from. Mine is worse at the end of the day - but it hasn't travelled down my leg. I don't go for a check up until July 3 and if it's still there, I'll ask then.

Sounds like sciatica. It will probably come and go as you heal. I think it's from being positioned in the stirrups or something. I had it off and on for several weeks. Check with your doctor when you go for your post-op to make sure it's not from something else.

Thanks for all the quick and thoughtful replies! I just now had my dh give me a good lower back rub, and then put heat on my back and boy did it make a difference!

Betty1234- I am sorry that you are still having discomfort in the backside, that's where all mine is too. I started applying heat to my back today, and it is much improved. I highly recommend it!

Love2Quilt- Now that you mention it, I do remember my dr. telling me that there is a major nerve that runs down that side, and that she is careful to move it, but that there are many other nerves there, and it's hard to see them all, so I bet you are right.

Waterpolofan- LOL on the uterus weighing 40 lbs! That cracked me up! My dr. did seem quite impressed at the size of mine when she removed it though- they way she went on and on, I kinda felt embarrassed, if that makes sense. I did get lucky enough to lose 6 pounds from the surgery, so I am pleased with that! I guess I will take what I can get!
