painful intercourse 6 mos. out of hysterectomy

This is embarrassing, but I cannot have intercourse due to it being so painful now. We've used lots of lubrication and I don't think that is the problem. It feels strucural. Anyone else having this problem?

I did have a lot of pain at first. Have you checked with your dr? An exam might help to see if there is something structural, as you say.

I was put on Vagifem for the first year, and that really helped. Now I am OTC for dryness. Maybe you need to try a different lubricant.

Don't feel embarrassed! This is pretty normal I think, and your dr should be able to help you with it.

I am so sorry to hear you are having pain. Have you talked to your Dr. about this? There are several conditions that can cause painful intercourse.

One condition is called vaginismus. It can feel like a structural issue but is a muscle condition.

Your Dr. might refer you to someone else like uro-gynecologist or possibly for pelvic floor physical therapy. It could also be something entirely different.
