7th week post hysterectomy - I have no libido

Hello Ladies!
I believe my recovery has gone smoothly. I took it really easy the first 3 weeks, then slowly started doing little things.
My doctor (male) had told me before surgery that the recovery is like a Cesarean. He has no clue, since a Cesarean is nothing compared to a Total Hysterectomy!!!
I am swollen and I can barely touch my stomach its so sore!! I still get tired easily and have pains in my body. I also find that when I start to get the feeling of a BM, I get sharp pains and its very uncomfortable.
I saw my Doc. last week and he said I can go back to work next week (my 8th week). He said my internal stitches will take about 3 months to heal and I will NOT feel normal for about 6 months!!!
I am a Day Care Teacher in the infant room which means bending, picking up 14-18 month old babies all day, pushing a stroller for four, etc, etc...I can barely bend down and cannot pick up heavy things!! Anyhow, my supervisor doesn't expect me back until I am able to work.
Unfortunately, I have no libido and don't look forward to intercourse. I am afraid of how painful it will be!
Is anyone feeling the same way?

Re: 7th week post-op

Hello there

First, remember that you are recovering from a TAH and it sounds like your body is letting you know you need a bit more time. Hopefully your work understands that and perhaps can ease you back in slowly when the time is right.

Definately contact your doctor should you need any questions answer to provide peace of mind or even contact your primary as a working team is always good to have.

I have listed some links that might help a little to read while you are resting:

Is Pain 8 weeks After Hysterectomy Normal

Intimacy after Hysterectomy/ The Wait

Returning to Real Life After Hysterectomy

One day/week at a time!
*hugs*

Re: 7th week post-op

Hello, Its amazing how Drs dont give us the full scoop on this surgery & recovery. IDK if they hide it from us (in fear theyll have no patients) or if theyre that clueless... I think its a bit of both...

I had a TAH, ut takes time to heal. Aside from healing, things just feel different & have to get situated & adjust to the changes that have occured in the body.

The GI system will be a bit different due to reduced hormones & moving. Staying well hydrated & keeping the GI system moving is a must. (Ive posted on this many times- see my posts, bc so many sisters having same issues). Otherwise it can add to bloating & uncomfortable pressure even feels like its putting pressure on our female parts.

Use a step stool when have to go. Increasing fruit, veggies, seeds, smoothies you can manage to out a combo in there like fruits, soy milk, yogurt, spinach, flax seeds, chia seeds, etc...Several small meals & snacks vs heavy meals. Limit starchy carbs like rice, pasta etc bc binding.

The belly may have swelly belly on top of bloat from GI slow. It takes time to go down... Ice for swelling, heat pad for pains. If you're all swollen (& I know that feeling) it restricts bending. I took ibrophrophen bc antinflammatory..

It takes longer than 6-8 weeks recover. I think Drs go by best case senarios. That doesn't mean you cant be active & continue w resuming activities.. you'll find many Sisters attest that they don't feel 100% at week 8. It can be a 6-12 mo recovery, but still be active..
Your concerns about resuming activities as before are real & understandabke. Just take it slow, things will bounce back..

Do talk to your Dr about hormones. Since your ovaries have been removed it brings on a plethora of symptoms. From anxiety, insomnia, brain fog, body aches +++ Diet, supplements may help. Soy? Omega fatty acids? Search this site or Google menopause symptoms..

It will get better🌸

Re: 7th week post-op

I think that at 7 weeks if your stomach is so sore that you can't touch it, and you can't bend over, I think that you should get yourself thoroughly checked out by the dr.it doesn't sound right to me.
