my GOOD NEWS report

Day 10 here from TAH on 5/24
Doing pretty good!
Cannot believe the PAIN the first several days. WOW.
Weaning off the narcotic pain meds and taking Motrin and Ultram.
Faithfully taking bowel softeners and the occasional shot of Miralax. lol
Mindful of not 'pushing'when doing either.
Been doing some very light cleaning (wiping down kitchen counters, etc) and fixing sadwiches.
Will drive to my son's school for awards on Tuesday and see how that goes (school is 3 miles away)

Surgery was for big ol' fibroid laden uterus (literally looked like the creature from Alien! lol) and cervix. Kept both ovaries.
Minimal blood loss and really no spotting afterward either.
Staples were removed before leaving the hospital 3 days later.....steri-strips can come off today. Don't see my GYN until July 8th.

LOTS of prayers and thanks to God for a full and fast recovery!

Anyone else have chocolate crevings?!
I only do that with ovulation and I'm past that.....wondering if that is from my doc being in there messing with my ovaries?

Re: my GOOD NEWS report

Dawnya, glad you're doing so well!
So my whimsical/crazy brain just had an image of your surgeon gently squeezing an ovary, chanting "Want more chocolate" over and over.
My big surprise is NOT craving chocolate. Fruit popsicles have been my go to for sweets.
I hope your trip to the school goes well tomorrow.

Re: my GOOD NEWS report

Congratulations on your recovery going so well. Keep resting and don't be surprised if that 3 mile drive to school and back is enough for the day. You only know by trying though.

Glad to hear you are all doing so well. But remember, no lifting or big chores and Rest, rest, rest! You still have a long way to go.

Re: my GOOD NEWS report

I almost didn't post this....don't want to jinx myself!!

But really wanted other ladies to know some TAHs go as planned.
Hopefully a glimmer of hope

I've had thyroid cancer surgery and lumbar spine surgery but this TAH, by far, has been the most painful. But....each day is a tiny bit better than the last!
