Dizziness?

Hi, I'm 10 days post op. with a abdominal hyst.

I'm doing okay I wake up feeling great and don't need any pain med. But if I'm on my feet ofr any legnth of time I get really dizzy. I'm still trying to a balance between recovering and pushing to hard. By evening I end up with a low grade fever and dizziness even when sitting.

No to grouse too much but sleeping on my side still hurts a bit too much.

Anyway is this normal?

Dizziness?

Miriavas,
I too had TAH on the 7th. Are you eating enough? I have found that if I use those bolster type pillow (I got 2 of them from Walgreens they are the squishy type)use 1 behind my back to kind of lean on and 1 tucked under my belly and side it has really helped. I have found that eating apples help with the dizziness maybe you are not getting enough protein. I hope you get to feeling better soon I know for me this has been the roughest thing I have ever been through.
Sending lots of hugs your way
Kim

Dizziness?

Hi Miriavas, Hi Kim,

I had my surgery on March 7th also .... and still find it uncomfortable to lay on my side. I usually wake up with a backache, cause I lay on my back all night. It's actually the incision that hurts most I think, not my belly .... or at least around the incision.

I think the thing I dislike the most is the incision ... it's 8 1/2" wide and just gives me the heeby jeebies! LOL ...

I guess it's bothering me that I was cut open like that .... and now it has to heal closed. Yucky poo! If not for the incision and getting tired easy, I'm doing pretty good.

Dizziness?

Just this week I have been able to sleep on my right side. Still can't sleep on my left side though. That's weird because I slept on my left in the hospital, but I still had all my heavy duty pain meds there.

If you're getting dizzy, you may be trying to do too much. If it keeps up, I would definitely call your doctor.

I know how you feel, I wanted to be better yesterday. This doing nothing is getting old. But, I'm still taking it easy because I want no complications on down the road.

Dizziness?

Hi
I have also been having dizziness. For the first 3 weeks post op, I had it quite bad in the morning. I could only stand up for very short periods of time. At four weeks my doctor did a whole bunch of blood tests, and showed basically nothing wrong with me, except slightly underactive thyroid, which she said could happen with the trauma of the surgery and it will propably get better on it's own. So I don't know what to say. I am 6 weeks now, and I am still having "brain fog" and today the dizziness again just a little. On the up side, at least I haven't had the dizziness for a week or so, so I think the general trend is that it is going away. Check it out with your doctor for sure, just to be on the safe side!
