First day back at work - do you think a robe and fuzzy slippers is okay

Well today is my first day back at work. I am sitting here in by robe and fuzzy slippers and have no desire to get dressed. I wonder if they would mind if I just showed up as I am. I have a very large vertical incision and find most clothing very uncomfortable or makes my incision very hot. I have been wearing loose track pants when I go on my errands and around the house, I may just have to go in very casual. Thank goodness I am only going half days.

Wish me luck, will check back with you later today.

LOL !!!! I was just thinking the same thing ... I don't have to go back to work until Jan 5th, but when I do, I'm seriously considering asking my boss if I can wear my jammies to work !!

Good Luck at work and don't over do it

I have to wear a uniform of sorts too. I work in an "Office Supply Super Store" lets just say we sell a lot of staples...

Black pants (no jeans) and a work provided embroidered polo shirt. But I do have permission to wear maternity pants and leave my shirt untucked for as long as necessary.

They have the normal red shirts available in maternity... but not the black eztech shirts. Guess no one was counting on women in the computer repair department??? Seems a bit chauvinistic to me, don't ya think?

I'm excited to jump start my brain... but I am not sure how my stamina will be...

First day back at work - do you think a robe and fuzzy slippers is okay

I have my post op appt tomorrow to see if my release to work date will be this Friday or not ... I just don't think that I am ready to return. Luckily, I have a desk job but I don't think that I can sit in my office chair for 8 hours since I am still most comfortable in my recliner. My boss said that we could work something out about working PT or working from home but we haven't discussed in detail ... guess that might happen tomorrow after my appt.

Maybe if you wear really clownish looking makeup as a distraction they won't notice that you are in your jammies.

First day back at work - do you think a robe and fuzzy slippers is okay

I came back to work 12/1. My boss had me work part-time - basically until everyone started saying I looked like I needed to rest - about a half a day at first. On December 8th I came back full-time. I have been (and continue) wearing sweat pants and a "decent" shirt. Mine is a desk job and we are not in the public eye. Good luck and hope you have as compassionate a boss as I.

First day back at work - do you think a robe and fuzzy slippers is okay

I have been wearing loose fitting dresses to work. The looser the outfits, the happier my tummy. All was good until weather got cold and I wore a pantihose. I could bear with it for 2 hours and then I had to take it off. It was pressing hard on my tummy and was uncomfortable (almost painfull). I ended up in the mall looking for stockings (the one which stops at your thigh with elastics). Maternity wear are the best...the irony....
Good luck

This is my biggest fear also. They had my company party Saturday, and everyone wanted to know if I was going. I told them only if the country club allowed me to wear my pink fuzzy robe and slippers. I told them I would embelish it and jazz it up...but alas, I knew they wouldn't like it.

My boss has said that I could work from home, and not go back until the first of the year. My incisions arehealing nicely....I just seem to get swelly belly if I overdo it, and talk about getting tired......
Let us know how it goes back at work.

First day back at work - do you think a robe and fuzzy slippers is okay

Well I am back at the office for day two. I left yesterday after 5.5 hours (1.5 hours way too much), feeling very sore and tired. I went straight to bed and napped (I feel like a 90 year old). Today seems to be a bet better. I discover that getting and doing some mild stretches and walking seems to ease the discomfort. Everyone here is great, they even let me come in later today.

Good luck to everyone out there
