SO sleepy! 5 days post-op...normal?
Hi firends,
My DaVinci procedure was Tuesday and I have been resting, resting, and resting. It seems like the longest I am able to be awake without a nap is 4 hours. Just wondering is anyone else is having, or has had the same experience.
Just wondering when you ladies felt your energy levels coming back up. All advice appreciated!

Re: SO sleepy! 5 days post-op...normal?
My first few weeks I would get tired from just taking a shower. I was the opposite in that I was exhausted but I could not fall asleep.
You will notice a increase in your energy every week.

I slept for most of my first week. If you are taking pain meds they will make you tied too. Your body is healing and resting is good

Re: SO sleepy! 5 days post-op...normal?
Thank you I appreciate knowing I am not alone! I can be awake for a few hours then suddenly a nap is mandatory. I haven't been eating much, either, so I guess there isn't much fuel to provide energy. The meds surely add to the fatigue; trying not to take them.... advil seems to work just as well.

Re: SO sleepy! 5 days post-op...normal?
Had da Vinci 9 days ago. I still sleep a lot. I loaded my dishwasher and felt like I ran a marathon. Take it easy! I was having a very hard time being the one taken care of... I'm always taking care of every else. But, I decided that I would enjoy it... May be a long while before I can totally relax again!! Just take it easy. Happy healing!

Re: SO sleepy! 5 days post-op...normal?
I was like that for the first few weeks. I'd get up in the morning, then take a nap before lunch. Then, I'd take a three- or four-hour nap after lunch. I'd usually make it between dinner and bedtime without a nap.
By the end of the second week and into the third, I was taking only one nap a day.
Sleep is a great healer. Listen to what your body is telling you and get that rest.

You are definitely not alone! I am almost 3 weeks post-op, too, and still sometimes find myself cross eyed trying to stay awake during the day...and then nit being able to sleep at night, like now. :-p
This, too shall pass...I hope!?

Re: SO sleepy! 5 days post-op...normal?
Haha! My first week and a half are nothing but a blur of waking between naps!
I'm 3 1/2 weeks post op... And my daily naps are much shorter now.... But still frequent!
I figure we all heal at different rates and we will all need different amounts of sleep.
I do make a point of trying to eat healthy. I know my body is working hard to heal so I try not to eat Bon Bons all day long.

Re: SO sleepy! 5 days post-op...normal?
Yesterday was 3 days post-op and other than lying down reading a book, I didn't nap. I had a heck of a time falling asleep though last night, even after popping 2 percocets. I felt woozy, but not sleepy. So I just " rode the narcotic wave" (It feels like a comforting rocking to me) and relaxed, then fell asleep.
