5 months PO and I am crumbling

I guessed I would feel great at this point. I have been walking since week 2 ( w permission) up to 6 miles 4 days a week. My belly is still swollen and numb and sore. I feel like I have a foreign object attached to me.

I am having crazy heart palpitations at rest, my eyes swell up with tears constantly and I brush them back. My body is not mine and I can't find the one I had before surgery,
My doctor said this buldge will get softer and that I am fine and do not need to come back for a year.
What is going on?

Re: 5 months PO and I am crumbling

Elle77, I'm sorry you are having a rough time. I can only think that you need to not stress, if the Dr. has given you an all clear and there are no other medical conditions you probably just need a bit more time. If your gut says there is something wrong I would pursue that.
The boards are full of sisters that have taken a little longer to heal, anxiety and stress will only delay the process.
Hugs to you and hope things get better soon.

Re: 5 months PO and I am crumbling

Elle,

My arms are outspread to give you warm hugs! Our bodies go through such changes, that at times we don't notice them. Just remember this, it will take 6 months to a year for us to finally feel and look more like ourselves. When your tummy is sore, give it some tender loving care. You are still healing even at 5 months.
If you are worried about the heart palpitations, go to your general doctor to have him check you out. Better to be safe than sorry.
We are all here for you when you need to talk.
Gentle Hugs to my dear hystersister!

Re: 5 months PO and I am crumbling

When I started going through menopause I had heart palpitations..at the time I was so scared, didn't know that hormone fluctuations could cause this. Are you taking HRT? Might talk to doc about it... good luck and I hope you feel like your old self soon

elle -

All I can say is that it can take up to a year for full recovery. I started feeling and occasionally using the word normal 11 months after surgery.
