Strange pain after LSH, anyone else with experience over doing it?
Hey ladies,
I had my LSH on the 24th of October. Well, about three days afterwards one of my toddler twins elbowed my navel incision pretty hard and the navel area was pretty sore after that. I already had my check up and I have to go back to work on Monday (I really wanted a couple of more weeks off but I can't because it is just too busy at work)
Well - last week I was trying to get back up to speed at home before I had to put work back in the mix. Last week I started doing everything I did before the surgery - just slower. I had to lift my twins up a few times a day since I was home with them alone - but I tried to take it easy about it. I was trying to get back up to my 4 mile walks a day - but I only made it up to 2 miles and then got really sore.
Well - I went grocery shopping on Friday (a months worth of shopping for seven people with two - two year olds). Since Friday I look pregnant (my entire abdomen is just HUGE - I look like I am six months pregnant), and about half an inch above my navel it is really sore. I can't imagine that area would have anything to do with my hysterectomy, since it is above the incision and my uterus was below the incision - but I don't know what it is. Since my daughter put her full weight on that area it has just been sore (I forgot to mention it to the doctor).
Any advice. Any advice as to how to no longer look pregnant. I though this area would shrink after the surgery - not get bigger. I have no idea what I am going to wear to work tomorrow since I am so big (I lost about 10 pounds but I am just bigger!)
Thanks!
Angel

I think you overdid it. I notice if I overdo it my belly swells a bit and I have pain.
I think the lifting is something you really shouldn't do at all.

Strange pain after LSH, anyone else with experience over doing it?
Hi
walking 2 miles seems extreme to me. I had a short walk and had pain. If you have little ones, can you get someone to help? Going back early is a real drag, and you need to get some supports in place. You will be very tired. I have gone back part time and still need an afternoon nap at 3 weeks. Your body is telling you something...slow down.

Angel, Angel, Angel,
You are not a superhero....even though the doctors might say 2 week recovery for LSH there is no way our insides can heal in that time. The scars may look acceptable (face it, we will never compete with those bikini babes again) but you had major surgery. The only difference is that the incisions are smaller. So take it easier if you can. If you are back to work you need to try to rest a bit afterwards. The other replies are correct when they say that the swelling and pain are signs of overdoing things. If the pain in the navel area does not feel better, however, call your doctor.
