one week post-op - overdoing it?
I had the DaVinci laparoscopic surgery last Wednesday. All went well and I came home Thursday. Some vomiting for the first couple days whenever I tried solid food, but that went away.
Was really having cabin fever so on Tuesday my sister took me out for lunch and a quick trip to Michaels for some things I needed for a project that had to be mailed this week. That trip wiped me out and I spent most of Wednesday dozing.
I've been doing some lite cooking, gift wrapping, mostly a lot of puttering around the house, wiping up messes left by teenagers (not loading/unloading dishwasher or doing laundry or anything like that). I also have been up and down a fair amount, for things like running the bath for my 6-yr old and picking up things from the floor.
My belly is swollen and has been pretty much since I came home. I was reading the articles and saw where that could be caused by overdoing it. Does what I described sound like overdoing it? I really don't think so, but I tend to push myself and have been feeling like I should be doing more.

Yes, you are overdoing it a bit. I also had the DaVinci. My stomach was sore alot from trying to bend over. Take the time to let others do for you. If you have teenagers they are more that capable of doing laundry, unloading and loading the dishwasher and wiping their own messes. Sit or lay down and take it easy. Don't worry about the house. It will still be there in another week.

I tend to push myself too and it DOES sound like you are overdoing it a bit. Take it easy for another week or two so you'll heal well.
