Questions about week 2, after TAH?????

I'm assuming that I'll have an uneventful recovery, and knowing myself I'm figuring that I'll be climbing the walls with boredom and cabin fever.

I'm thinking that I may be able to take my laptop, put it on my bed, and do some paperwork for work. They are not asking me to, and I will be off the clock, just wanting to get ahead of the game for some projects that I have coming up at work.

I'm a computer programmer, and I design databases. I can't see that being a big issue, and if I'm planning on doing it in bed, it shouldn't be an issue, do you think?

I'm putting a tv tray thing on my list of things to get before the surgery, so I can put my laptop on it.

What do you think?

stir crazy

I don't think you'll be quite stir crazy at two weeks post op. I had TAH and slept quite a bit the first 2 - 3 weeks. It wasn't until the 4th week when I felt energised again. I know everyone is different though and I hope you have a great recovery!!!!

Questions about week 2, after TAH?????

Well I have to say that I suffered from cabin fever pretty early into my recovery. Since you will be only working on your laptop and there are no deadlines you have to meet I say go for it if you feel well enough. At least you can rest when you're tired and stop working when you don't feel like working anymore. Today is Day 2 post-op for me and I'm already going stir crazy. I think I've logged on to Hystersisters about 6 times today so far.

Questions about week 2, after TAH?????

I had my surgery on a Monday morning, was released on Thursday afternoon and back on my laptop Friday afternoon for a couple of hrs.
Hubby took a tv tray and cut the legs off to make it a bed tray. He hooked up a wireless keyboard and mouse.
He also put bottlecaps at the back of keyboard to slant it for me.
I didn't find this place until after my surgery. So I was on here several times a day, sort of like now.

I called it "Hyster Fever" - I started to go nutz about 10 days after surgery. I wanted to get out of the house, but I had to wait for DH to get home and drive me around. You get dead-butt syndrome from sitting so much, you get tired of flipping through the same 300+ channels on satellite TV, and you read Hyster Sisters all day - which is the highlight of the day cuz of all the awesome Sisters!! the hardest for me was watching someone else clean my house - I had to sit and WATCH - UGH!

While you're recovering, please remember to listen to your body, focus on how you are feeling. I'm almost three weeks out, and I still have days (like today) when I wanted to lay around and do nothing.

Best wishes, and keep the Sisters posted!

"Hyster Fever" - I love that term! I'll be at Bed Bath and Beyond after work getting my bed tray for my laptop.

I can really see those 300+ channels getting very old quickly, and I'm planning on stocking up on paperbacks over the weekend. I love to read, and I can go through a novel a day, so I need to do some serious stocking up. I can also see myself out here quite a bit during the recovery, I love this site!
