venting about emails

When my dr recommended a hyst, we talked for a long time about all of my problems and all of the possible solutions. At that time I knew in my mind and felt in my heart that a hyst was the right thing to do for me.

I have a close friend who immediately questioned my decision. She attacked male dr's saying "Men are so quick to remove a woman's uterus" and so on. I was very shaken and could only tell her that I FELT it was the right thing to do. Then I started researching. I read anything I could find about hyst and alternatives, all of the clinical stuff. The best thing I did was to find this website! Now I KNOW from a clinical and emotional standpoint that it is the right thing for me.

I was really upset at my friend for a while, but is was her questioning that made me research and become firm in my decision. She now respects my decision, and I love her even more for really caring.

This is your body and your decision. Please don't allow anyone to make you feel bad.

Love and hugs to you

Bravo on your friend, LB3
Some, though they mean well, don't now how to word things gently, but you got moving and researched, me too. I'm glad you love your friend even more. She will be a good support for you after the fact.

venting about emails

I love my DR, we have been together now for about 10 yrs. In the past he always looked at me and told me to go home think about what we wanted to do and get back with him in a couple of weeks or a couple of months and let him know what we wanted to do.(Fertility issues). When I went in in Oct, with "issues" he wanted to do an "overly cautious D&C. When we got the results, I heard blah, blah, blah, complete hysterectomy. Go home reserch it on the net. Let me know quickly when you want to do it. I knew then how serious it was. Nine sites out of ten said hyst. One suggested hormone therapy, but it usually did not work. I felt with hormone therapy it was worse **** and it was only delaying the inevitable. I resent the sites that try to use scare tacits to get me to change my mind. (There is one linked to this web site). I did what I had to do. Went it KNOWING it was the RIGHT thing to do. Two weeks post-op I still feel it was the right thing, and would do it again.
