driving and motorcycle riding
I know with all the other concerns people have, this one is probably minor. But, does anyone else out there ride motorcycles? We have one and all our friends have them and it is a major source of entertainment for us. I know I wont be able to ride on the back of DH for quite awhile, but do you think it will be the full 6 weeks, or sooner than that? I can already feel myself getting mad because I have to stay home while they all go out without me. Maybe I can just drive the van behind them :-) Thanks!

Hi, Linda! Here is a recent thread with women discussing their motorcycles! https://www.hystersisters.com/vb2/sho...ght=motorcycle This is something you should discuss with your dr and it probably depends on whether you have repairs done as well as a hyst. You won't want to be jarring newly healing tissues for a few weeks. I don't think I would have wanted to ride a motorcycle before 6 weeks, but you'll have to see how you feel and listen to your body. You could drive the van, but even sitting upright for long periods of time can put stress on stitches. Also be sure to stop and stretch every hour if you are in a car, and drink plenty of fluids since the risk of blood clots after any surgery is higher. s and best wishes!

Hey Linda!
That was one of the first questions I asked my dr when I went in for my 2 week post check up. She wants me to wait til I see her for the 6 week before i ride. I'm REALLY getting ansty to get back out there. DH goes out by himself sometimes, but he knows how much I miss it, so he doesn't do it alot.
I noticed that you still have a few weeks before your surgery, so get out there and enjoy it!!!!!!

motorcycle riding
Dear awgirls,
That's a good question! My whole family, myself, DH and two, teenaged boys, ride dirt bikes. Mine is actually an enduro so can ride on or off road but I hadn't even thought to ask my DR about it! With the good weather just starting in my neck of the woods, and some repairs needed to my bike, I haven't taken it out lately. Because we ride off road, the trails are still one big mud pit! I think it's safe to assume I probably won't be up to riding for at least 6 to 8 weeks but will ask my DR Thursday.
You'll probably be able to ride a lot sooner than I! Ask your DR, to be safe, and swallow some bugs for me!

Ladies....
I just thought I'd pop in and say this...I ride a lot to with my S/O and I am now 8 weeks post from a TAH/LSO and can't even begin to think of getting on the bike yet.
I know everyone heals differently but I wanted you to be prepared that it could be longer...I got clearence to drive at 4 weeks and there is no way I could have been on a bike...now I am starting to get back into the swing of the things I find it takes more to keep my balance and use my tummy muscles. I personally have a fear of losing that balance on the bike and causeing an accident. I tried to just sit the other day before he left on a ride and could barely get my leg over the seat.... It was really rather funny to see....
I think it will be a few more weeks for me...I'll try again at 10 weeks and see what happens...I'll try to keep ya posted and let ya know if I fall off... I hope you girls are different and heal faster but hindsight is everything...
Dawn
