shopping pre-op at Christmas time
I gotta say it was a odd experience today to be filling my carts with toys for.nieces, nephews, and a package bound for Rwanda to the kids i am head over heels in love with at a orphanage . And also filling my cart with bigger PJ pants (comfort is what I'm thinking!) The couple sizes too big panties, a robe, and down my list of things i have read are helpful post op. The Dr said this week he wants to do this ASAP (traveling and relocating to a third world country soon, with no medical care. Made me choose to keep my ovaries, and not have to track down a package from here with hormones!) I keep focusing on my loves in Africa (Korah, Ethiopia, and basically all of Rwanda!) As this is springing me to action and after returning in August, things got crazy. Thank God not there!!! Dealt with issues forever. But a five week and now almost 7 week period, constant pain. Just let me get back to my kids! I'm 31, unmarried and have no kids of.my own. But i feel i have a couple thousand beautiful kids already. 3rd opinion. Severe endometriosis and polycyctic ovaries. This is my crazy seven week long period, anemic, emotional, missing Africa, in pain babble. Sorry its all over the place!

Re: shopping pre-op at Christmas time
I think it is definitely a good idea to have the surgery before you travel. Constant pain is not good, so I am glad you are getting this taken care of.
Good luck with your upcoming surgery. Just give yourself enough time to heal before you head off again. You need to make sure you are well, and that nothing will happen that you need serious medical attention.
All the kids in your life sound lucky to have you!

Re: shopping pre-op at Christmas time
It was a bit crazy for me to do my pre op shopping yesterday as well. All the happy bustle and commotion of Christmas shoppers and all I can think is humm are these panties big enough? Do they make incontinence pads big enough for me? (just in case) is this the best stool softener to take? It seemed so totally surreal.

Re: shopping pre-op at Christmas time
Don't take stool softeners unless you get an okay from your doctor. They will instruct you if they want you to take them post-op.
Regarding panties, my understanding is that if you get one size larger than you normally wear you will be okay. I actually just did without, and used my normal underwear. It worked alright - at first it was a bit tight but they are nice and soft so it worked.
