"Bleeding post-op, 14 days"

Hi guys,
It's been a while since I have been on this site. My user name is "inshock". I don't suppose anyone will remember me but when last I wrote I was worried cos I had just found out that I had a large fibroid and friends which meant that I had to have a hysterectomy. At that time I didn't have any clue as to what to expect and was very scared, but with all the advice from everyone I calmed down and waited to see the specialist at the public hospital here. I finally did and had my op - LAVH - on the 19th of Nov. As far as I know everything went to plan and they removed a very enlarged fiborous uterus.
Since having the op. I have had no word from the hospital.
I have been spotting ever since. Is that normal? How long should it be before I go back and see the gyn who did the op.? No one said anything when I left the holpital, they didn't give me any do's or dont's - I am just going on what I have read or been told by other ladies who have had the same or similar. It has been 2 wks today, I am still in a little bit of pain deep inside ( like bad period pains) but am trying not to do anything (my husband won't let me) so I am lucky in that way. I feel as though I can do stuff but when I do I get sore and sorry. I am still very tired everyday. Is all this normal?
Would love to hear from you.

Hi Cath Glad to hear your surgery went fine. It sounds like you are right on track. I had spotting for a few weeks post op; as long as it doesn't start turning into bright red bleeding, you're good.

Your husband is smart to stop you from overdoing it... those of us who have had vaginal hysts tend to feel pretty good early on and there is the risk of hurting ourselves if we overdo. So listen to him!

This link has some do's and don'ts that you might find helpful:

Best wishes for a continued smooth recovery!

Thanks Linda,
Yes, i know my hubby is the best. He has problems with his back, and I am usually the one looking after him, but he has turned the tables and is doing a fine job.
Your right, we think we are fine cos the pain I am feeling is nothing compared to what I have had to put up with pre op.
Thanks again for the link, I will go look right now.
Hugs back at ya
Cath
