Help... Nausea

Hi Sisters, Has anyone else had this? I am 5 weeks post-op tomorrow but I continue to fight nausea. It seems like it is worse after I eat and sometimes when I go for several hours without eating. When I eat, shortly after I eat I get a crushing pain in my chest right in the middle of the breast bone. I really feel like I need to vomit but can't. I am only on premarin now and don't think it is a side effect from it. I still have pain and am still exhausted a lot. I haven't even seen my DR yet since the surgery. He doesn't see his patients until six weeks which is next week. It is driving me crazy. I hate to even go places because I feel so terrible all the time. I am normally not like this at all. I love to go and do but I just can't right now. I feel like such a baby right now. I just want to have one day without pain and nausea. Has anyone else experienced this?

Thanks and love and Merry Christmas to all of you.

Help... Nausea

Sorry to hear you are having so much trouble! The crushing pain and nausea in your chest does not sound like any normal healing to me! I would definitely give your doctor a call or even go to an emergency room! You may have something like an ulcer or esophagal reflux. It is possible that you could be on too high a dose of Premarin (I had chest pain and nausea on Climara when I was at .1mg which was too high for me) but since you say it happens around the time you eat, I'd be more inclined to think there is something else going on. There is no reason why you should have to wait another week to see your doctor if you are suffering like this. Please get it checked out! I know that years ago I had stomach problems and nausea and had an upper endoscopy done and they said it was acute gastritis (stomach inflammation). Never did figure out what caused it. They gave me Previcid which helped enormously and after one year I didn't need it anymore. As for the fatigue, that is normal to still be feeling that way after only five weeks post op. I still tire easily at four months but then I am still working on getting my hormones adjusted to the right dose. You have to remember that you had a major surgery done and it will take some time for your body to recover. I hear it takes up to one year to fully recover. Hopefully within the next month the fatigue will become less to where you can funtion more normally. Hang in there! It does get better! Please get the pain and nausea checked out though. And let us know what you find out. Take care!

Help... Nausea

I have been having the same feeling which started one week post-op. I had the pain exactly where you said and but it was like spasm which would start and intensify. I couldn't sleep because it was coming and going every 12 to 25 seconds and that lasted about three days. it then settled a bit but would come throughout the day. It also would happen shortly after i ate which i then was down to one very small meal a day. I spoke to my doctor about it and he suggested some things to take for my stomach and I had surgery and that my system has to recover and get back to normal. He said that if i could come in and see him if i didn't feel any better or gets worse and see what's going on. I'm now over two weeks post op and i had to pains late in the night last night into this morning, but since I haven't had any of that pain and neasousness so far today. I wish you the best and hope you feel better soon.

Help... Nausea

dascls,
I had my surgery the same day as you did. I also have the nausa(sp?)after I eat and even before I eat. I feel like i could vomit only I can't get it out. I have some chest pain, alot of back pain and a lot of abdominal pain on the right side. I hate to call the doctor because they always say it's normal. Believe me, it doesn't feel normal. I would have thought by now I would feel better. About the only place that gives me an answer is the emergency room. But I hate to keep going there. Did you find out anything?? Please keep me posted cause I don't know what to do now.

Help... Nausea

I had similar symptoms following my last surgery. I ended up with a GI doc and was diagnosed with a hiatal hernia.

Help... Nausea

Hi ladies,
For the past 3 days I have had the chest pain...Dang does it hurt but after a while it will go away. My brother is a Dr and said that is could be a big air bubble getting stuck there. I mean I was eating a tomato sandwich the other night and then BAM there was this awful pain so I ate a peiece of bread thinking the food was loged in my lower throat...that didnt work so I pat on my chest like when you burp a baby and it helped a little making me burp. Thent he next day we were in line at MCDonalds waiting to order our food adn it hit me again, I couldnt eat for an hour or so. I felt as if I had to throw up in order to make the pain go away. Then today it hit me and a few minutes later it was gone.
Does anyone know what this is? I am not nauseated (sp) just feel like a brick is crushing my chest. HELP!

Help... Nausea

You should definitely report any chest pain to your doctor. You want to rule out blood clots.

I had surgery Dec 1 and I'm still nauseated. I feel the same way after almost 3 weeks. I take anti-nausea medication and it barely helps. I have been on Premarin for about 2 wks now, before I was on Climara patch. I went to my DR today and she said it gets better. It couldn't be any worse!

Help... Nausea

I am almost 5 weeks post op, and I too am experiencing stomach/gas pains and nausea so severe it's affecting my sleep! I have tried Gas-X, Pepto-Bismol, and even a few prescriptions I can't remember the name of; nothing helps. Even before surgery I struggled with digestive issues due to a disability and chronic illness; this has just made things worse! The only thing that even remotely helps the pain is Vicodin, but of course, that contributes to constipation, which can create even bigger gas/stomach pain problems. I'm in a major Catch-22. It is very frustrating. I wish I knew what to tell you, but just know you are not alone.
