Emotional and overwhelmed

I stumbled on this site last night. I have had some sexual urges and wanted to know if I could try sex next week (I'm two weeks post op now) thankfully I found that sex could be very damaging and upon reading I became emotional and overwhelmed. My husband and I had a fantastic sexual relationship pre op and now I'm scared that post op things may be very different. I'm scared, confused, sad, overwhelmed and praying this wasnt a mistake. Can anyone relate or give advice?

Re: Emotional and overwhelmed

I had surgery the same day. My husband is more scared of hurting me than I am. I'm afraid he'll never touch me again! I'm more concerned with how it will feel long term. It was good before. Sometimes painful, but usually not.

Re: Emotional and overwhelmed

You will probably be just fine. Most ladies are but please wait until your doctor releases you before engaging in the "deed".

Bleeding orgasms (fibroid issue) is the reason I finally had to have the TAH. So I stopped all sexual contact 5 weeks before surgery. This was extremely difficult, as my husband of 21 years and I had a fantastic sex life. Needless to say we are both anxiously awaiting the post-op dr.'s ok. Meanwhile, we can play now without fear of bleeding orgasm. So we find gentle ways to pleasure each other. It's actuallly kind of fun because we feel like teenagers trying to get the most out of physical contact without penetrating. So far we are only up to hand jobs, which I never learned how to do. So, he is teaching me. I hope I don't sound too vulgar, I'm just trying to encourage you to follow the rules for recovery and let it take you to different places you may not have considered. I wish you the best.

Re: Emotional and overwhelmed

Hi ferfie5,

I'm sorry that you are feeling overwhelmed right now. I can totally relate! I found HS about 2 weeks after my hyster and I was riding an emotional to say the least.

One of my MANY concerns heading into my hyster and during recovery was how my intimate relationship would be once I recovered. I, like you, had a great physical relationship with my hubby and I thought the worst. I'm happy to say that things are actually better than ever!!

As Danni said, most women are just fine, so try not to think too much about that now. Take one day at a time, and don't rush your recovery. You only get one chance to heal properly and this is it....so...rest, rest, rest, and don't forget to

Re: Emotional and overwhelmed

I was absolutely panic stricken after reading all the scary stories!! We waited a full 8 weeks and took it slow. It was odd at first, but we were careful and gentle and I never had a problem. I did not keep my cervix and all the talk of vaginal cuffs here on the site kind of freaked me out!!! Long story short, things were fine, and now almost a year out things in the bedroom are better than ever. I forget all the time that things are different now "down there". Pretty much feels the same to me!!! I was worried orgasms would feel different... they kind of do... but in a better way!!! Not sure why, but am happy with the end result. Hang in there it really is worth it to wait and do it right so that you don't have a bad experience.

Emotional and overwhelmed

Although I'm feeling a little better, I am surprised at how easily I cry. I am so emotional it's rediculous. I did however discuss with my husband my concerns about how we will fall back into bed comfortably and was very relieved to learn that he is not worried about it at all. He says the chemistry is there so everything will fall into place. I just can't wait to stop crying! I have scheduled a shopping outing with a girlfriend followed by a new hair-do. I'm hoping this helps perk me up a little. And I did find out I'm 6 lb lighter so that helps too

Re: Emotional and overwhelmed

I'm 16 days post-op and I worry about when it'll be time to be intimate with my husband again. I jokingly tell him 6-8 Months but honestly sometimes I feel like maybe that Is a good time frame Lol! I worry about the Cuff and problems with that after sex. My husband is well endowed (sorry TMI there!) so I worry he won't enjoy sex anymore or/and that it'll hurt me.
