6 days post hysterectomy - Has anyone experienced worsening stomach issues?

Has anyone experienced worsening stomach issues? Nausea, burning, dry heaves? As the days go on, my surgical pains get better, but my stomach seems to get worse with each passing moment. I have a prescription for nausea and an antacid but neither make a difference. My goodness this recovery threw me for a loop. The expected never happened and the unexpected is plaguing me

6 days post hysterectomy - Has anyone experienced worsening stomach issues?

Hi!
Had the same problem on day 6. I am now on post op day 8. Nausea is better each day. I have IBS and my doc thinks that's what's causing the issues. I ended up in the ED on Sunday for iv fluids. The nausea meds took the edge off but didn't stop the nausea. Been trying small frequent bland meals. Thank goodness for toast and peanut butter. To be honest my gyn wasn't too helpful after they called me in meds and it didn't work. . I go tomorrow for my first post op check. I had both ovaries removed and wondered if the lack of hormones caused it. They tell me no. I tend to be very sensitive to meds too. Hope you feel better.

I have always been pretty sensitive to medications and I believe it's the Motrin that's tearing up my stomach. I tried to cut it out but then the swelling and pain returned. Throwing up is so darn painful so every time I start to gag I just take deep breaths and pray that it will pass. Hoping this is one of those one step forward, two steps back kind of things. I've had a little yogurt this morning hoping that will ease the burning some.

I couldn't take Motrin because I am taking heparin still. Maybe call your physician and see if they can get you another type of pain medicine? I hate taking any kind of medicine because I am so sensitive. Even though our surgery was robotic they are still doing a lot of manipulation and there is stress on the body from surgery. I was pretty down about it but I started thinking positive and decided I am me and my healing will be different then anyone else. Hang in there. We got this. Keep us posted on how the day goes. I was lucky in some ways as I didn't need pain meds that much. I think I over did it yesterday as I did take one last night.

I just put in a call to see if I can drop the Motrin and maybe go back to my Mobic that I took presurgery for my back. The pain medication they prescribed is way too harsh for my stomach. If it weren't for the swelling, I would just suck it up and stop the Motrin all together but with swelling, comes the pain, and I don't have time for that. Ha Ha
