dVH/RALH: 5-days and counting... Dec 22nd

Today was my last day at work. Tomorrow I have my pre-op appointment and I took a vacation day on Monday, then surgery is Tuesday, December 22nd. I have been so wrapped up in getting everything done at work that I have not thought a lot about the surgery, but now it is really real! I am also having Rectocele and Cystosele repairs done.

My supervisor, manager, and even the Sr. VP at work have been so supportive. My husband has also been very supportive. Everytime an opportunity has come up for me to do something with my girl friends my husband has encourged me to go and have a good time because soon I won't be able to. He took 2-weeks off to help take care of me post surgery. My 25-year old daughter said she is coming home every weekend for a few weeks (she lives about an hour away) to help with house cleaning and to make sure I'm doing OK.

I am a little nervous about surgery, but I am so ready to get it done. I was diagnosed Oct 14th with Adenocarcinoma. I am so ready for it to be gone!

I am 6 almost 7 days post op for a TAH for enlarged uterus and 5 fibroid tumors. I'm soon to be 40 years old and never had children. I am a teacher and spent all my time before surgery getting things done in my classroom in preparation for my sub teacher. I'm home recovering and doing ok I am glad to report. I wish you a speedy recovery and don't be nervous about surgery, easier said than done though. I was a wreck before my surgery, but after realizing this was for the best and having a good talk with my anesthesiologist, my nerves were calmed and I was ready to start a new life free of all of the "sicky" stuff inside of me.
